-Let's use the scoop set-up here, it'll give him less stuff to catch on to with his thwack.

-Okay he's slightly faster and all that, but our MW fight proved that having the higher speed isn't a guarantee of success by any means. :P

-Those front teeth on him are really small, which means it's just that much easier to angle in on them. Even if he's anticipating such a movement, it doesn't take very much at all.

-I'll approach him, but not full out rush yet since I need to make sure he isn't going to try and thwack. If he is, drive into his rotation and stop him cold. If he isn't, then try to move in against his teeth and wedge him.

-Whenever I wedge him, drive him around the the hazards and keep him there. I'm sure the saws and the arena discs would love to meet his tires.

-If he wedges me, I can use the puncher spike to push myself away to help get myself free. From there, get my front facing him again and try to quickly get back on the offensive.

-Try to keep things pretty close quarters, it'll give him less time to react with any kind of quick thwack, or any other kind of fancy moves. Press my lifter into the floor for added leverage and don't try to lift him unless I have him solidly in my scoop. Don't let him lure me to the hazards.

Good Luck!

I should go 3-1 this week but it'll probably be something like 0-4 or 0-5.

It sucks going 0-5. You lose all 4 of your bot fights for the week and you also lose at life.

Couple of strategies to try here as the match goes on:

  • Try thwacking a lot at first. Not really to do damage, but just to knock him off balance and open up his sides. My angled T-Wrex style thwack should help to catch on his wedge and swing him around, letting me get at his vulnerable sides.
  • If that doesn't work try coming at him. I have superior torque so if we get deadlocked (a real possibility since his wedge gets steep, in that traditional ABR style) I can push him around.
  • His lifter is pretty thin and makes up only a small portion of his front. His side wedges are thus particularly vulnerable - especially if he tries to ride the lifter a little bit. This is one of those situations where coming in at an angle helps, since it means I avoid the lifter. Additionally, if he comes in at an angle on me, then he's mostly opening up his side wedges for me to move underneath. The full weight of my robot rests on my teeth, so I should at least get under his side wedges.
  • Whenever I get control, go for the traditional stuff. He's got 6 armor and his rear wheels are exposed so he's particularly vulnerable to stuff like the spinner. In contrast my 11 armor (I have to double check every time I post that, I made these stats when I was drunk) should take very little hazard damage.
Good luck.
