Undercutter mode

Well, its a spinner vs. spinner contest which usually means a stat war. We're basically even. He has more weapon power, but my blade has more armor (by virtue of +4 weapon armor vs. his +2 ring spinner armor). Where this fight will be won or lost is based on whether or not we actually go weapon to weapon.

1. The side view of Spike shows a decent distance between his hammers and where the wheels touch the ground. This means that, when I'm undercutter, my blade should be able to slide underneath his hammers entirely. This, combined with my greater reach, means that I should be able to just hit his chassis at will, and essentially tear him apart with no response at all. This is the best possible scenario for me, which lets me destroy him at my leisure.

2. If our weapons meet, then there are some other advantages I still hold, like my speed + traction ratio. Basically I can accelerate and move faster than he can, which means I can follow my hits better than he can. This allows me to be much more aggressive than he can, and in a judges' decision, I'd expect to dominate that category. Ideally I'd like to spin up and run into him, and then follow that up with another hit. The idea is to use his poor traction against him: when the two massive spinning forces collide, his poor traction will be even more exposed. Eventually he will ricochet into the wall and I can continue to beat on him there while he finds it difficult for him to get up to speed.

3. The shape of his teeth are less than ideal. The side view shows them to be conical, meaning that unless he hits my blade directly with the point (unlikely, since I'm undercutter), I'm going to be hitting the underside of the cone. This deflects a lot of his force, and will warp his teeth. The whole collision would look something like this: http://imgur.com/VNHlJ4C

-I know there's been some talk about Spike being on the slow side in the preseason buzz, but in this case he's only giving up 1 point in speed to Windmill so it really isn't so bad. Additionally Spike also sports slightly better chassis armor than Windmill, the significance being that I'm not in the 1 hit KO range for him, but he certainly is for me.

-Of course it's highly unlikely that we'll get anything but a weapon to weapon meeting right off the bat anyway. What I'd like to do is to move out and try to move myself in against the angle of his rotation. He can go undercutter to try and avoid my weapon, sure, but my weapon is able to attack from a full 360 degrees at any moment while he has to be more focused on keeping his front pointed at me to be effective.

-Anyway, if I can get that angle on him that should actually help me out absorbing what can only be a massive impact a bit better than he can. He does have a small traction advantage, but when your dealing with a collision with weapons this powerful you have to question how much better off Windmill would really be in this case. Additionally, it's reasonably likely that he'll get spun around completely by a big hit like that. Now it's likely I would as well, but it's not nearly as big a deal for Spike since no matter what my weapon is always facing him. If I can back at him before he can fully get his weapon pointed in my direction again and land a hit on his main body, my 9 point weapon over armor advantage on him puts me solidly in the 1 Hit KO range as I said before. Even I didn't get the full KO, a hit would severely cripple him and leave him more vulnerable for a follow-up shot which should spell the end.

-If needed I can try to duck behind one of the floor flipper panels to regroup a bit before trying to go after him again. Possibly I could even get him to trip over them at some point as well since their positioning nearer to the middle of the arena is more favorable than the usual killsaw positions. Him getting stunned after a flip would completely stop his weapon and leave him wide open to an attack.

-Above all, try to keep in motion as much as I can so he can't line up an ideal angle to hit me from. Try to keep my ring spinning as much as I can.

Good Luck!

I should go 3-1 this week but it'll probably be something like 0-4 or 0-5.

It sucks going 0-5. You lose all 4 of your bot fights for the week and you also lose at life.
