Welp, it's only fitting we arrive here - a Kody bot that has yet to be defeated. Numerous competitors have tried, but failed, but who better to do it? That's right...FINAL BOSS! The Kody Killer! And wait - Teresa is being controlled by Josh? This is bizarre! But should be quite entertaining, nonetheless... Teresa is radically different from the last design and is pretty much a whole new bot. The concept feels more like a SHW Stingray, which could work in certain battles, but maybe not so much against Final Boss. With complete 100% skirt protection and very low-to-the-ground wedges, Teresa will have difficulty not only pulling off a good thwack strategy but also a good puncher strategy as well. If she decides to thwack, her spikes are clearly high enough off the ground that they will just fly over the skirts of Final Boss. Is she decides to use the puncher, the first hit may or may not knock me backwards, but if it does, I'll be able to quickly recover and scoop under the extended ram arm. Plus, the arm is very thin, while Final Boss is very wide. This means even if the puncher is more annoying than I initially expected, I'll be able to angle in a bit more and go around the puncher. Final Boss has a nice solid 7:7 ratio on speed and traction, while Teresa does not. She also a huge as arm, pulling a lot of the weight to the back which will cause some slight drive/turning issues. Basically, it's unlikely she's going to get a good attack on me with her puncher at all during the match. When the match starts, I'll come at Teresa but drive slightly off-center when we get close in order to swing my front wedge around her side. She may have fired the puncher by now, but even if she doesn't, I should be able to scoop under her wedge hopefully. If/when I get under and get far enough under to reach the chassis, fire the flipper and toss her up. I'll simultaneously take her to the nearby hazard, which would hopefully be either the killsaws or hammers. If I manage to get her there, give her as much exposure as possible. Try to tear up her skirts with the saws and try to bash in her top plate with the hammers. Her base armor is only 5, which is definitely susceptible to damage. If I get her here enough, I should add on to the damage significantly. If she decides to thwack instead, come at her as fast and direct as possible. Like I said above, I doubt the arm would actually thwack me away, but I'll keep on her as aggressively as possible if she decides to do this. Overall, use my slightly better maneuverability and drive to dodge the puncher, use my wedge coverage to scoop her up and my flipper to score me the points. Utilize the saws and/or hammers, too. Good luck! |

-Well isn't this nice? ![]() -Okay, we've got to deal with the lowness of Final Boss, but as Stingray-type designs have proven in the past they can go toe-to-toe with wedge-y bots just fine. The main thing to overcome is Boss's broader wedge coverage. Fortunately Teresa's wedges look like they might be a bit heavier. -The idea will be to angle in slightly against where the flipper extends from Boss. That's the weak spot! If I can slip under him from there, great! Since we have equal torque I can use the puncher to help push him along. It's not much for damage, but getting off a bunch of good punches still helps the Damage category. From there try to force him along to the hazards. Saws, hammers, it's all good. Just keep scoring points off him. -If I have trouble wedging him try firing off the puncher at him. He's low, but so is the puncher arm. I should be able to hit the flipper, or a skirt or something. If I hit a skirt, I should be able to kick up a bit. That could open up a chance to wedge him. -Use thwacking as a last minute defensive tactic if he's getting around to my sides. I may not be able to score solid contact, but even a bit can throw him off his track enough to keep him from wedging me. -Get in a lot of punches during the match and keep my front facing him as much as possible. Good Luck! |
