I've never lived by anyone's rules but my own.

Blech. Alright, let’s do this. I want to be aggressive and show that my weapon options are more debilitating than his. Again, we’ll use the harpoon attachment. The plan will be to bench him on it, then take him to the corners—into the drum first, then try to follow up with pulverizer time. Approach aggressively. Go all out. Take long running slams. Try to use that low low front on the harpoon to outprioritize his wedge. If he drives tricky just go into a spin, perhaps. Be versatile and throw in spins from time to time on approach, then back off if he doesn’t approach while I’m spinning, and go for a long slam again. If I somehow get flipped, try to drive into the arena drum diagonally to right myself. Good Luck -N |

OK, looks like I'm fighting the big old fish Stingray again. Although admittedly I'm not in a good position to do so, let's see if I can pull it off anyway. Analysis Not a great deal's changed since last time I fought him, but he's certainly as strong as ever. Matches me for speed, has slightly better torque (Although still low enough for me to resist him if need be.), and he has that ramming thingamajig on him as well. Considering all the talk about using the Harpoon in the Spreads page, I'm going to assume he'll be using that. Still, I think I've got a few strengths of my own to use. His traction (Ergo, control) is slightly worse, my wedge is low enough to get underneath those big skirt wedges on the sides, and due to the armour bonus he's applied to his bar, his chassis armour is nerfed to only 5. With that, he'll certainly be easier for me to damage or even KO than vice-versa. His weapon range is a bit thin as well, so as long as I keep away from the forks on the front, I should mostly be alright. Strategy Pegs ON. Anyway. I'll generally want to be be both strategic and aggressive in my approach. Move out quickly and approach him from an angle as he comes, off to the side of his front forks. Force my way under with the wedge, flip him over with my Lifting Plate to nullify his Harpoon, and if I can get back underneath, use my top bar and Lifting Plate together to clamp down and lift him off the floor. In terms of how I attack- try and flip him first if I can, but if I've already done that, keep underneath, use both my Lifting Plate and my Top Bar to keep him under control. If I can clamp him, get him to the hazards- prioritise boxing him into the corners with the pulverisers to smash through his 5 armour, and holding him over the killsaws to rip up his skirts and wheels and therefore make it easier for me to attack him. Well, if it worked for Lian, I don't see why it can't for me as well. When he's flipped, don't let him right himself- keep him away from the drum for instance, and switch to clamping and hammering to attack him instead of just using the plate. Basically though, be as aggressive, versatile and controlling as possible in my approach. Defence mostly comes down to seeing what he does and taking the necessary precautions to react accordingly. If I see him trying to take a run up for a slam, use my traction to move out the way and come round to counterattack as soon as he passes, and if he tries to thwack, be aggressive and ram straight into him to knock him out of his spin. From there, start pushing again. To avoid the Harpoon- keep moving constantly and unpredictably throughout, keep clear of the hazards when I'm not using them myself, and don't approach him directly from the front if I can help it. If he does wedge me on it, do everything I can to shake myself off using my weapons- my chassis is pretty smooth, so there's nothing he can really catch onto due to my skirts being hinged and my wheels quite set into the chassis, so no massive arches or anything under there he can grip into. After I get off, prioritise escaping before coming back in again. If he somehow flips me (But hopefully he shouldn't do.), move to a safe spot using my invertability before I self-right, and try to do it with my back facing him so that he'll run into my front when I do so. Overall, I want to be both varied and aggressive in my approaches. Employ strategy to get past his weaponry, flip him over first, and from there utilise my trapping capabilities, my drive, and the environment to consistently force him onto the defence, deny him any chances to bring the Harpoon into play, and gradually break him down with a variety of attacks from all sides. His armour's pretty subpar, so hopefully I can KO him on damage, but I wouldn't mind beating him on Aggression/Damage and Strategy, either. Well, hopefully this'll be enough for me to make this Stingray the Catch of the Day. Good luck, Spatch. |
