-The stats are near identical except for me having a 1 point advantage in weapon while he has a 1 point advantage in traction. All things considered I'm happier with the weapon advantage since I foresee a lot of weapon on weapon action and I'd prefer having the stronger and better armored weapon. I'll use the disc for this one. -I guess the wild card is if he plans on going with both discs or only one, granted they're so close together I'm not sure how big of a difference it would make for him, but it's something to consider. He's basically a mid-height spinner with it's weapon divided in two for some reason. If he uses both I'm pretty sure only the bottom one will be making contact with my disc (the top one maybe barely, it's tough to gauge). If he uses only one then it's probably more likely he's trying to overcut, in which case it's an argument of range which I modestly propose I'd have the advantage in just from a comparison of the pictures. In addition I'd say his weapon axle area looks far less sturdy than mine so there's that too. -If there's going to be a weapon on weapon collision it's important to remember that as a 2 disc system, each of his discs would weigh noticeably less than a single disc system. Add that in with my weapon advantage and I think it's pretty clear my disc will be hitting a decent amount harder than his. If I can knock out the lower disc, his goose is pretty much cooked since he'll lose a lot of his potential to return damage to me. -Any way he would start, just get my disc going and then come right at him and make sure we collide head-on. Since our drive stats are nearly identical, and we're both 2 wheeled bots there isn't much chance of him being able to swerve around my disc. If he tries driving in reverse with the idea of whipping the disc around, then slow up a bit and orient myself a bit in the direction he's most likely to turn in (read: the direction his gyroscopic forces wouldn't impair). -After collision get my disc facing him again. Back up a bit if I need some extra space and then go right at him. I want to keep shoving the disc at him as much as possible until I can break it or get a shot on his main body and start breaking him. Just be aggressive with my weapon and make sure it's pointed at him at all times. -If there's a point where both of our weapons break down I can use the wedges on my back to push/ram him a bit. It's not much but far better than nothing at all. Make sure to keep clear of the hazards, including making sure he doesn't try to lure me over any of them and whatnot. Good Luck! |

Fuck. Analysis Not much to say here, other than that we're pretty similar, but he's got a slightly stronger spinner, whilst I've got better traction- ergo, I'll be better able to stay in place and bring my weapon into play on his chassis more effectively. Also- just to confirm, the lower disc runs at undercutter height, so it'll be able to hit his if he's in undercutter mode, both run off the same axle as well so both spin at the same time, and they're spaced apart enough to have the belts protected if he's in undercutter mode. Likewise- regardless of which set-up he chooses, his will spin faster, but there's less weight behind it due to the mass of the bar or the disc, the latter of which in particular has those big holes in it whilst my discs are solid, and therefore should be somewhat sturdier. Ergo- whilst slightly less damaging in terms of stats, I'll be doing more damage in a wider area as I land my blows, which could be the winning aspect of my design if I'm lucky. Strategy So anyway, spinner-on-spinner warfare, and all that! Hang back a little bit until I've spun up, and once I have- move out quickly and keep the discs facing him and the body well-protected for the big initial hit. After taking the blow, I should be able to recover faster from it due to my traction and wider chassis/tyres- thus, I'll want to spin back up again as I approach him, and go for his chassis before he can recover. From there, it'll mostly be quite formulatic- avoid hazards (And don't fall for cheap hazard-baiting tactics), keep spun up as much as possible, and use my superior control to keep my weapon facing him and attacking his chassis rather than his weapon for the most part. In an emergency, use the Bastard Spin (Spin on the spot in the direction my disc is going, think thwackbots) to keep him at bay if he tries to go for my chassis. Push back against him if both our weapons go, but if mine goes whilst his is still working, cut my losses and tap out. Better to die than be killed, after all. Anyway, hopefully this should be sufficient- shorter than usual, but you don't need a whole lot of strategy for these sorts of matches. Good luck, Josh. |
