The Guy
Dr. P
Speed: 6
Traction: 5
Torque: 1
Armor: 8 (+2 plow)
Weapon: 8

Cherax
Speed: 7
Traction: 6
Torque: 3
Armor: 7 (+2 lifter)
Weapon: 5

Going with the regular hammer here.

His main body only has 5 armor, to my 8 weapon power, so any hits I can strike will put some serious hurt on ya boy. Otherwise we're similar enough in drive train. He's got torque over me, but if I get under his wedge, his wheels will immediately be off the ground (regardless of what direction he has his wedge facing in). Meanwhile, even if he pulls the wedge underneath me, my two huge wheels still will have traction and be able to literally drive off his massive wedge. I just have to not get caught in his clamp of his, but when you consider that the clamp would close at 3 weapon power (lifter and clamp multiple weapons), it'll be slow enough that I can maneuver around it and off his wedge.

Otherwise, there's not much Cherax can do to control me. Then you have to consider that he has that huge weight out in front of the robot, that has been shown in previous results to be a major hindrance for him in terms of maneuvering. My strategy is pretty simple: I want to get as many hits on his main chassis with my hammer as possible, and I can accomplish this by simply being more wily than him in terms of out juking him. If I veer off towards one side of his chassis, he's going to have to turn to counter that, but once he's got his wedge dragged to one side, I can change direction and accelerate to the other side faster than he can, giving me an open avenue of attack. Getting under the main body and hammering away will cause serious damage that may hinder him later in the match.

I don't even mind if he gets under me. His wedge is at such a low angle that my huge wheels can simply drive over it. If he does get under me then I'll drive off the wedge to his side, so I can get under his side and pound away. And if I get under him, his body shape is such that both of his wheels will always be off the ground, where even my 1 torque can take as long as I like to push him where I want to (the arena hammers).

Don't be reckless, however. Try to juke his wedge to be out of position, and get around to his sides.

Good luck.

I've never lived by anyone's rules but my own.
I think I have a little trick for this match that makes Dr P's life a bit more interesting:

Approach in this position, except with the clamps fully open. I want to clamp that plow and then use my torque advantage to push him into the killsaws, and maybe the pulverizer if I can get him there. The plan is that I think Alex probably has no plan other than hoping my wedge issues give him an easy fight. But in this position, it won't be an issue. My weight will be on the tips of the jaws and my turning circle will be nice and tight.

It would make me a bit top-heavy, but I will compensate by driving slowly, advancing cautiously.

I'm going to just keep my front facing him and try to get us deadlocked.

If I can get a solid clamp on that plow, then the weight from Dr P will be a solid counterbalance that keeps me stable, and I can put the pedal to the metal and drive him around with my superior torque without worrying about toppling. That's the plan: control. Be patient and get a clamp on him, then just take control from there and force him into the killsaws/pulverizers.

Good Luck
