But if you make each column one giant vertical tooth, it won't slice horizontally. It's supposed to essentially function like one giant circular saw, or like a deli slicer. Also, comparing it to Striker's treads is unfair when you consider that it was a) designed to hold bots in place, and b) was powered accordingly with a weapon stat of five. Given the 25 point-5 category system, (and given that traction has to be close to speed in order to keep from sliding around like a puck) I think it's placed substantially higher to function as a weapon. Am I wrong here, and if so, where? |

circular saws are only really effective when something is held in place. think about in a garage, cutting wood. you have clamps to keep that wood held in place, otherwise when you use the saw on it, you'll just be pushing it away and maybe chipping some wood. that's why a saw would usually only be effective with something like an SOB type design or whatever. i get that with dandilioness, the thing that's holding the opponent in place is themselves. like if you're facing a rammer and they're trying to dominate you, they're actively pushing themslves into the saw. but as it grinds down, you'll have chewed away at their front or wedge or whatever, but they'll have you trapped. if you have a larger tooth type deal, then the energy isnt so spread out, and instead will create a bigger impact on each hit. this has the advantage of pushing your opponent away from you, as well as doing more damage. (on impact. grinding away with 10 weapon power still does a lot of damage, its just a different kind of damage in that its more of a precise, cutting nature, as opposed to a single impact) think a bed of spikes vs. one spike. if your concern is keeping opponents from hitting the chassis directly, or bypassing your teeth, you can do that with far fewer teeth. like, three teeth on the bottom and three teeth on top, offset from each other would guard against wedges and 'overcutters' or whatever. |

I'm kind of skeptical. I tried it with far fewer teeth before (at least I think I did a version where I had teeth instead of the discs) and every opponent pointed out the gaps saying they'd have no problem avoiding the teeth. I do get what you're saying about the circular saw thing. I think that's part of the problem with a traction/no torque stat. If traction's supposed to work as sort of a torque correlation, having a high traction should equate to grinding power against a charging rammer, shouldn't it? I guess the rest is conflict of vision. Dents and dings are fine, but ripped gashes in armor? F'ing cool I don't know if I have time to fix Dandelioness at this point, especially if I don't have a bmp backup of the jpg. She's a bot I'm still trying to retool, and got sidelined because Rascal had immediate notable success. I'm just kinda trying to go for farm machinery effects here. |

Hey Chris, for clusterbots with non-identical halves, does each half get different modifiers, or do I only get four total? This is kinda important :/ |

They only get 4, so whatever you use wind up receiving will apply to all bots. |

I seem to be the only one with an unfinished team. I'll have MW up tonight, if that's alright. Sorry it took so long guys. I spent too much time working on a bot I ended up not entering. ![]() |

I've got most of the bot cards done. I'm going to be busy as hell in the next few days so I might have to postpone Week 1 back a week - not sure yet. But once the bot cards and schedule are up, we should be good to go! I might need to clarify a lot of stuff for people once they see their stats. I imagine that's going to be fun. |

Almost done with the bot cards. They took forever, but I should be able to wrap them up and post the schedule tomorrow. Nick S - I realized you have no MW. Did you forget to submit one or ran out of time? If you could quickly post one, that would be greatly appreciated. I re-opened the signup thread temporarily for you. I don't care if you duplicate another bot/stats or just enter Glory Hole

Almost all of the bot cards have been made and are now available to view on the separate thread. The complete schedule will be up soon. BUT BEFORE THAT… Take a quick look over your cards and see if there is anything that may seem incorrect, unfair or odd in any way. I'll keep a 24 hour window for everyone to potentially address and/or dispute something they see on their card. If it’s a mistake I’ve made, I’ll make sure to correct it before it’s finalized. If it’s not, I’ll clarify why it’s correct. To avoid potential spam of questions cluttering this thread, I request MESSAGING ME THESE CONCERNS/QUESTIONS ONLY. This is just to keep things organized. Once again, since this is a brand new system that will not be added to the official CFL records (maybe separate records if successful). So I please ask you bear with me and just enjoy the tournament as it is. Because I’ve seen a few major issues with bots being either way too powerful and/or way too weak, I’ve had to tweak a few of the modifiers. I’ve added the Melty Brain Drive modifier to prevent Y-Drives from being unstoppable brick rammers, and I’ve added Lifter Incentive to prevent low-powered lifters from being completely useless. All of these changes have not, however, screwed over or fucked up other opponents, so everything is fair. NOTES ON CARDS: -Clamp effectiveness is a bonus only. It basically acts as a supplement to the Push Outcomes. -Same with Lifter Outcomes. They "outcomes" for lifters seems really low, but once again, it's a supplement. If you are designated as a lifter, you will get bonuses/potential flip potential for Push outcomes. -Maneuver Effectiveness may seem very low for a lot of bots. This is not a mistake. Maneuver will be a two-way street for many – on one hand, if you have much better maneuverability than your opponent, the more likely you are to succeed. On the other, the outcomes are generally not as great as ram or wedge outcomes. -Everyone gets at least a 1 of Maneuver Effectiveness. -Some cards have two sets of numbers for each category. This is for any multi-bots that are distinctly different and require two sets of stats. Each bot set is color-coded to avoid confusion. -As far as role playing, it’s fairly straight forward. Look at your Effectiveness stats (and compare to your opponents) and then choose your most desired strategies to go up against. For now, I'm taking a mental break. And probably drinking tonight. All bot cards have been created and the first fight card is up! Unfortunately, due to an odd # of competitors, there are weekly byes. Plus, since I never got a MW entry from Spat, everyone gets a free FF win in MW. If anyone has any questions on how to RP, feel free to contact me. |

LW and MW only have 5 fights instead of 6 for the first week. Dr. P doesn't have a match week 1. |

Both of yours are in. Thanks. Maybe I'll make things easier by bolding the bots on the fight card for RPs I have in so nobody gets paranoid that their email didn't go through. |
