Well then, it looks like VGer is my last opponent this week. Let's take a look- Analysis Well, he's certainly one of the more...'out there' opponents I'm fighting. He's a HS/Clamp Hybrid with a weakness to William Shatner- good power in both its weapons, decent enough speed, and quite a unique design in a lot of respects. Always nice to see some creative designs! However, he does still have his faults. With the combination of my 8-armoured Scoop, my Traction and his own Clamps, he won't be able to attack me as effectively with the disc as effectively as he'd probably like. To elaborate- due to the angle of my scoop and the short range of his teeth, he can't really cut through it, nor can he bat me away and expose my weaker armour at the back with it. His Traction and Torque are poor as well, has pretty average and pierceable Armour at 6, and his lack of a Wedge stat means that not only will his rear wedge be useless, but it also makes the Clamps much weaker against my side skirts than against flat sides. Even if they do grip me, I can still out-push him. All in all, not nearly as hopeless for me as Kody said it was for me in the Spreads, but he's still one to watch out for. Strategy Well, game on. Move out quickly, but don't rush him. Try to approach him from the sides or front corners if I can- failing that, keep the scoop directly facing him. That way, the scoop will protect my more vulnerable chassis, and I will also be able to out-push him. When I get to him, use the piercers to clamp down onto him, preferably into his wheels or pistons if I can, and force him backwards into the wall. From there, maintain my purchase on him with the Crushing Rams as much as I possibly can- lift him a bit off the ground as well to prevent him from getting away if I have to. Utilise my superior Torque and controlling weaponry to get him to the hazards, and use those to deal as much damage as possible. Utilise the Lifter with the Crushing Rams to lower him into the Killsaws or feed him rear wedge-first into the Drums, and use my Torque to keep him boxed in as the Pulverisers hammer away at that vulnerable 6 Armour. The key thing to remember with the Defence is to never, never, NEVER let him get to the back or sides with the Disc. Hopefully he shouldn't have any chances to do so with its poor Traction, but even take particular caution to prevent him from doing so just in case. Keep him caught in my piercers or at the very least with the Scoop facing him at all times, and if he clamps me, don't give up! Use my Lifter and Torque to lift his wheels off the ground and fight back. All in all- be controlling, aggressive, and do what I can to keep him trapped and vulnerable. Keep biting down on his vulnerable points with his Crushing Rams as much I can, and do what I can to play both the Environment and his own design facets at this point against him. Judging by the ratings from both Josh and Kody on the Spreads, I'm probably going to get massacred here as well, but if I can pull off the upset and KO him, or at the very least beat him on Strategy and one of the other two categories, that'd be absolutely fantastic. Well, that's it for this weekend. Very interesting design, but I can only hope I've enough to win, here. Good luck though, Spatch. |

How to RP for this one? So we are facing a vertical clamper that claims to be a crusher with 4 tonnes of force at the tips… which I am slightly skeptical of. With only 6 weapon points for both the lifting scoop AND the clampers on top I’d say that’s a stretch. On the other hand with 13 points on my clampers I can (somewhat oddly) crush him if I can sweetspot a grab around the sides. That’s not so easy of course. In addition the arena might help me out a bit because V’Ger is fully invertible while Master of Puppets needs to self-right to attack. I would very much like to use this to my advantage. Whenever possible, try to line up disc hits to fling him over an arena flipper. I guess take off the front antennae, since they’d just ride over his skirts. I’m going to try and use the multi-weaponed aspects of V’Ger to outplay the Puppeteer here. Note that his armor is only 6 with seemingly no bonuses so… let’s focus on getting disc hits at first and then maybe go for a clamp later, if I can line myself up on the sides. The main utility of the disc will be to turn him around and deflect any attempts to get in and carry V’Ger. This ought to be difficult luckily, due to V’Ger’s crazy shape. -Start out slowly, keep the disc at him at all times. I want to force the issue of the disc, which since it’s fully under my bot makes it a real pain for him to get under without feeling the pain. -Since he’s faster my plan to charge up the disc for repeat encounters will be to back *into* the conveyors, and use the conveyors to amplify my robot’s speed, and navigate around the side of the arena on them, almost shark-like, waiting to leap in for an attack. -When I get enough hits for the disc to slow, then try to go for a grab, using my wheel pods on his sides in a head-on approach. I realize with his torque advantage he’d just push me around while I’m grabbing, but my goal is to damage with the spikes on the front, going for a knockout. -Ultimately outlast him and try to do more damage, controlling the fight through disc hits and more effective grabs. Good Luck -N |
