WHEEE! I mean, Wii!

SQUEE!

Okay... I'll stop with the rhyming... Anyways, for Christmas, I got a Nintendo WiI! I got the new Guitar Hero for it and Star Wars Legos: the Complete Saga as well! Now I need to get Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World and Super Smash Bros. Brawl and then my life will be complete. I want to get Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, but my friend said she'd lend it to me (SOREN! I WUV YOU!), so... hooray for saving money! XD

Anyways, I love the system, mainly because if I want to swing a sword (or light saber), I actually HAVE to swing the controller! Hehehehe.... I have to say that I'm VERY good at those kinds of fighting games. ^.^

Graceling by Kristin Cashore

I'm a book worm. As such, I love to read. The other day, I stumbled upon this AMAZING book, called Graceling.

There's a more complete summary HERE and a short promotion movie-thingy there as well, but I have to say that the book was spectacular.

Set in a medieval world where people are gifted with strange abilities called Graces, one girl, Katsa, is gifted with a powerful one: the Grace to kill. She serves her uncle, the king of the Middluns (one of the seven kingdoms of the land), as his personal fighter, doing his dirty work for him when nobles and others disobey him. Along the way, she meets up with the prince of another kingdom named Po (Am I the only one that found that name amusing at first), who is gifted with the Grace of hand-t0-hand combat...or so he says. Working together, the pair kicks major butt discovers the secret behind Po's grandfather's kidnapping and find romance, adventure, danger, and the truth about both of their Graces.

And now for my rant! Beware of spoilers....

Bottom line: I really, really wish there was more to this story. Then again, there's always fanfiction....... ^.^

Concert! Squee!

Okay, so since I'm in my school's orchestra, the other day, we had a concert! It was fun because: my high school had to perform at our middle school's concert (the original date was snowed-out) so we essentially stole their show, and due to the fact that I got to surprise a few old friends and teachers. And cry when they played songs that I knew.

To make things even cooler, the concert's going to be aired on my local district's television station, so... everyone in my township can see me play the bass. o.O Did I mention that I 'sway' when I play and that my mom said I "look like I'm dancing?" XD

My orchestra played:

  • Durango Tango by Doris Gazda (I think)
  • Ten Easy Pieces by Bartok
  • Danza by Nelhybel (which you can hear/ watch a video of below)

I'm going to try and find my dad's video camera to put up a video of my orchestra playing on Youtube, but I don't know how well that'll work out... ^.^

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World & Kratos

As obsessed over Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World that I am... I HAVE to make a post about it, right? Okay, for people that DON'T know about the game, it's an RPG (Role Playing Game) by Namco that is the sequel to Tales of Symphonia. The aforementioned game is a part of the 'Tales' franchise and sadly, isn't a mainstream game in America. That aside, it is for the Wii and... is almost impossible for me to describe without being completely biased. Then again, that's what THIS is for, I suppose. And the official website as well.

Anyways.... I am a die-hard Kratos Aurion fangirl. And of Yuan and Zelos as well. But Kratos will forever have a place in my heart. If you need to know why, he has an angsty past (he had to watch as his student went insane, kill his wife, AND betray his son, among other things), an AWESOME-looking sword called Flamberge, can use both magic, heal, AND fight in the frontlines, is an angel, and... *Continues to rant for another 15+ minutes* Get the picture? ^.^

Despite his large fanbase, he only appears onscreen during ONE SCENE for DNW and of course, he's DNW's narrator. I mean, I understand why he can't physically appear in the game, what with him going off to Derris Kharlan and all, but... *Points to the OST* THEY HAVE A NEW VERSION OF HIS THEME! I mean, they got my hopes up when things were just starting to be leaked onto Youtube... TT.TT

Vampire Knight 45 Stuff **SPOILERS**

Well, the new chapter came out three days ago, but I might as well try and post my theories, ideas, and reactions to it...

To start: I never officially read the entire series, so my views are somewhat limited. I pretty much only read up to ch. 15 and then skipped to about ch. 30--and I've kept up with the recent chapters as they come out. For the details that I missed, Wikipedia was VERY helpful.

Now, ONTO THE CHAPTER ITSELF! So, since it opens up with an owl flying around, at first I was confused. And then when I saw that it was being controlled by a vampire, I felt a bit better about the Kaname-stalking bird. ^.^ And thanks to some anonymous person, I have learned that the person controlling said bird is one Kurenai Maria/ Shizuka.

And when it switched to Headmaster Cross, I was happily surprised. I mean, in anime/ manga, NO character EVER acts happy-go-lucky without having some dark secrets and/ or past (with Hunny-sempai probably being one of the few exceptions). And then, when it was revealed that he was a former vampire hunter, I kind of expected it. In one of the earlier chapters (I've forgotten which), he had the sword, so that was pretty much screaming that yes, he is indeed a hunter if not a powerful fighter. And when it's made known that he KNEW that Yuki was a pureblood all along and he refused to tell her, that was interesting.

Furthermore, his relationship with Juri seems to hint at a love triangle (parallelling the Kaname X Yuki X Zero triangle that is driving almost all of the series's fans insane--myself included), but it should be noted that Juri did indeed choose her brother in the end. Foreshadowing, I wonder? Still, Kaien Cross is one of my favorite characters from this series (the other being Kaname because even though he's a "nice" vampire, he has is cruel side. Yes, I'm pointing to you, Edward Cullen) because he may not get the limelight, but without him...well, not only would the story be complete angst, but it wouldn't exist as we know it. ^.^
