Recently we've been notified that a few users have experienced virus warnings while on the site. The problem is not this site - it's Google Ads, which this site, along with thousands of others, use.

Google Ads has had a recurring problem with not catching small "spyware" or "malware" going out with their ads. There has also been some false positives, where tracking cookies have been flagged as backdoor trojans.

Google Ads is used by websites to generate income. It's used by thousands of sites throughout the web. You almost can't get away from them. So we're going to show you how to keep yourself safe from any and all threats posed by not only Google Ads but malicious codes, spyware and viruses you can contract through daily surfing. Keep in mind, you don't have to visit a shady site to be at risk.

All of the programs below are FREE. One of these comes with my own personal recommendation, it's the best out there, and consistently tops the ratings and reviews over purchased products. Malwarebytes and Firefox are two other free and very highly rated programs. At the end I've included a link to reviews of free anti virus software, but I cannot stress strongly enough that investing in a paid anti virus software package is the best thing you can do to keep your computer safe from harm.

1. Spybot Search and Destroy

direct download: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

This is the best spyware protection out there. Follow the easy download instructions provided to install onto your computer and it will protect you and innoculate your browsers from being hijacked or infected.

(a) Click on download and choose the selection "Save". You can save to a folder or to your Desktop. Remember where you've saved this program.
(b) Once the download is finished, either click on the icon on your desktop or click on the saved program in your folder to Run.
(c) When it prompts you to allow the program to Install hit Yes or Okay.
(d) Follow the onscreen instructions to install.
(e) When the program is installed, run it to innoculate your browsers. You can also choose to allow the program "Teatimer" to run at all times, monitoring so that no program hijacks or installs while you are surfing. I have this installed and it works wonderfully.
(f) Run this program every few days or at least once a week.

2. Malwarebytes

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a surprisingly effective freeware antimalware tool. It's a relatively speedy malware remover, with the quick scan taking about 8 minutes even with other high-resource programs running.

(a) Click download.
(b) Follow the Installation instructions on screen.

3. Firefox

Firefox allows you to use two dandy add ons: Ad Block and Flash Block. This browser is best for full protection from rotating ads like googleads. Internet Explorer is not as good, nor are Safari and Opera at this time.

Firefox for Windows:

Firefox for Mac:

Once you have followed the on screen instructions, you can then add on these two features (there are many more you can add that are available)

Just click on "Add to Firefox" and the installer goes to work:

ADBLOCK PLUS
(you can choose sites to block, but it blocks the whole site, not just the one picture. So if the pic is hosted at Tiny Pic ALL pictures from TinyPic will be blocked) :

FLASHBLOCK
(I do not use this personally as it blocks many applications I use)

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/flashblock/

For those who do not have anti virus software purchased, here is a review of the top free anti virus software download available:

Keeping your computer safe from harm should be a top priority. The programs above, along with a good anti virus software and running frequent and schedule scans, will help keep your computer healthy and your personal information safe from malicious use.

As always, if you have any problems or questions, feel free to PM or Email. We'll always help.
