MOORESVILLE, NC --- “You can come home again.” Those five words ring true for Bobby Hamilton, Jr. as Team Rensi Motorsports proudly announces his return home. Hamilton, a White House, TN resident, will climb behind the wheel of the No. 35 McDonald’s Ford in 2007. The 28 year old Hamilton piloted the No. 25 Ford for Team Rensi Motorsports from 2002 until late in the 2004 season. Both Hamilton and Rensi achieved their greatest success during that time period, capturing five victories. In 2003, Hamilton came within 49 points of winning the 2003 NASCAR Busch Series Championship. In his dramatic pursuit of the championship, Hamilton recorded four wins, 13 top-five finishes and 22 top-ten finishes along with one Bud Pole Award. “Everyone at Team Rensi Motorsports is excited about the return of Bobby Hamilton, Jr.,” said Team Rensi Motorsports President Ronnie Russell. “Bobby won races for two different crew chiefs here at Team Rensi and always managed to squeeze every ounce of strength out of our race cars. We are excited to bring an even more experienced Bobby Hamilton, Jr. back home next season.” Team Rensi Motorsports Co-owner Ed Rensi echoed the feelings of Russell. “We are so proud to bring Bobby Hamilton, Jr. back inside our organization. Bobby is a vital part of our history and we are all looking forward to competing together once again. Welcome Home Bobby.” Hamilton is eagerly anticipating his return to Team Rensi Motorsports. “I can’t wait to get back home and drive for Team Rensi Motorsports and McDonald’s. I am very hungry to prove my racing talents and record many more NASCAR Busch Series wins in the McDonald’s Ford. I want to thank Team Rensi Motorsports for staying in touch and continuing to believe in my ability to drive a race car.” Since departing from Team Rensi Motorsports in late 2004, Hamilton has competed full-time in the Nextel Cup Series (2005) and Craftsman Truck Series (2006). Hamilton will replace current McDonald’s driver Regan Smith following the completion of the 2006 NASCAR Busch Series season. Smith recently informed Team Rensi Motorsports of his intention to accept a new driving opportunity for the 2007 season. Team Rensi Motorsports thanks Smith for his service and wishes him the best of luck in the future. BOBBY HAMILTON, JR. I can't wait to see how he's going to do as well. Hopefully he'll win a few for his Dad this year too. |
