Newbie (read the rules :)) requesting a roll! Character Name (first and last): Esme Seynn Age: 24 Caste: Healer Queen Social Status: Merchant Birthright: Rose Offering: // Race: short-lived - human Birth Territory: Raej Starting Money: 675 (I think) Appearance: Like many from Raej, Esme has the tanned skin and dark hair, but instead of possessing rough features from many years of working outside as a merchant child, she has managed to keep something of a nice, smooth appearance, with almost flawless skin, beautiful blue green eyes that are a bit more buggy than usual, long dark brown hair that comes to about midback, and dainty, rounded features, like her cheeks, nose, and chin. She is about 5’5” and weighs just over 120 lb, making her not quite the skinniest girl around, but she loves her curves more than she envies sticks. On her backside she does have a nice purple scar from where she sat down on a rusty piece of metal left around the market, which then got infected before her mother finally decided she was not enough of a competent healer to fix it. Her style of dress can be referred to as merchant chic, whatever that could mean. Her dresses always seem to be either a size too big or a size too small, in old styles and worn fabrics. Even as she tries to fit into a life accepting the fact that she is a healer queen instead of just little old merchant girl Esme, she still keeps with her past way of dress, always looking like she just came in out of the dusty market arguing with the customers instead of doing something more queenly. The most common colors of her dress are grays, faded reds, and browns (they disguise dust the best in her opinion). Personality: Esme is commonly referred to by her parents as a charming, bubbly young woman who has a bright future to meet a good man (preferably from another well to do merchant family), pop out five to seven children, and then settle down to cook and clean all day while the man is out at the market selling his wares. Esme is commonly referred to by herself as someone who wants her parents to shut up and leave her out of their lives. She is uncommonly smart, but not so much in the book sense as she is in the sense of street smarts. Growing up in the markets, Esme can tell when someone is there to rip her off or out for devious means, how to get the best deal while haggling, and a memory of short cuts and the likes. There are two main things that seem to define Esme the best - her nature to treat everyone as her equal, not caring if they are aristocrats or commoners and instead as living beings like herself, and her nature to be a brash talking hard worker, doing what it takes to make sure that she makes some sort of a life for herself. Even if she can come across as a total bitch, many people seem to take a liking to her anyways, from the commoners she meets to the people of the court. Esme is not two faced or anything, it is just that she has the qualities to meet every taste, something she learned from an early age while working the market. Very recently Esme has lost the one male in her service, and she is beginning to fear that she will be hurt unless she can find another one soon. She has given up the township she ruled to return to the court that she began in, and which deep in the bottom of her soul hates. Instead of making trouble for herself, she has taken to the shadows and out of the spotlight while she waits for a new male to come to her, working with healers of the court and using her gifts in that manner instead of being outwardly a queen among queens. She knows better than to parade herself around at this point. History: The markets of Raej did not break out in celebration with the birth of young Esme Seynn, the daughter of a summer sky-jeweled healer and a rose-jeweled warlord. The Seynn family had long since separated from their once aristocratic roots, breaking off and deteriorating into a common merchant family over the course of many, many generations. By the time Esme was born, her parents were little above selling trinkets and blankets, a fate much worse than when her great-great-great grandmother, the last of the family aristocrats, was a district ruler. Esme and her sister Beatrice were never told the stories of the family past, instead being raised only in the family present. The daughters Seynn were brought up helping in the market stall, haggling with customers, some of much higher class than them, and treating everyone the same, no matter if they were stronger or weaker. Nobody could have ever thought that little Esme would grow up to be something more than a baby maker and market worker and nothing more. Her parents were so oblivious to the possibility of their daughter being something more, they never noticed how she could commune with the world around her. When she grew to an age to wear her jewels, Esme began to receive training in healing from her mother, a less than competent teacher since Esmeralda had never herself received proper training, as her mother was not a healer. At the same time, her mother barely recognized the signs that her daughter was not just a healer, but a healer queen. Finally Esmeralda gave up on Esme and sent her to another woman, a purple dusk-jeweled healer by the name of Mila, that her potential was finally seen. By this time she was eighteen, the product of ignorance on her parents’ part, and the best Mila could do was have her be placed into a position in a very lesser court with strong connections to the slave market, far from her more amicable wares market back home. Luckily she managed to find someone powerful as her protector, a Sapphire-jeweled Prince named Mason, a force in her life that brought a new sort of influence to her, but just as she began to rise in the ranks, gaining the rule of a small township, Mason died in a freak accident, leaving her without a protector for the meantime, and very vulnerable. Trying to find protection in some form, Esme has made her way back to the provincial court that she first began with, back to being just another queen among the masses, and without the one person in her life that she actually believed liked her, more so than her family or teachers or other queens.
