Black Widow Priestess :: High Priestess of Hayll :: First Circle
Summer Sky - Green
Raina Troy moved slowly about the altar. Her eyes are closed as she moves about the scared place. She is moving to a rhythm that only she can hear and to a song that sounds sweeter than anything that she has ever heard before. She moved and swayed gracefully until the music in her head stopped.

Taking a deep breath, the young Black Widow Priestess looked back at the path that she had taken and wondered for a moment just what the Darkness had been trying to tell her. She had been having visions more and more lately, and she was still struggling to understand just what they were trying to tell her. So much like before, the woman took out a pad of paper and sketched out the pattern the steps of the dance had made. Once it was done, she carefully vanished the tools of her tray and picked up the cleaning of the Altar.

She took several more hours to get the Altar in the condition that pleased the young Green Jeweled witch. She wasn’t a natural hearth witch, but her brother told her that she had a tidy streak that could rival one. Raina just laughed it off and didn’t let it bother her. She had always prided herself on being neat and tidy; it was the one thing in her chaotic youth that the young woman could control about her life. So she bathed and made herself look as immaculate as she could and let the world around her shift and change. Some things never change it seems even after the years of being relieved from her father’s control.

Standing up straight, the Green jeweled woman stretched her back out and heard the familiar pop and crack that came with hours of being hunched over. True, she could have some maid or lesser Priestess, or even an apprentice do this manual laborer, but she had given them the day off. Besides, there was something satisfying about seeming something get clean by your own hands.

His father had always taught him to respect the sacred places, the alters, and those who cared for them. He knew there was more to them than met the eye, but he had never found exactly what that more was.

So once every year he came to the Dark Alter of Hayll, and gave the priestesses what help he could. Today he had brought a basket with him, filled with things that those caring for the alter and this sacred place may need. extra food and cleaning supplies, and some money to go towards the future upkeep of the place.

"Always care for the darkness Son, and it will always care for you in return"

Those words echoed in his mind, the memory as clear as yesterday. His father and he sitting in the study late in the evening, a book open on the desk.

His father had taught him all he knew about blood law, protocol, and the rules that governed his race. His mother too had taught him lessons, but those were of a different kind. She taught him to hate, and how a man should never be forced to serve.

Azrael shrugged away the memories of the woman he had called mother, and cleared his mind as he approached the alter.

She felt him long before she ever saw the Green Jewel Warlord Prince and gave a soft signal to her companion as the two had come to an understanding about pouncing on anyone that walked through the door. This was an altar, people were supposed to come here, but it didn’t hurt to be cautious. Standing up from the floor, the young woman dropped to scrub brush in the bucket and retied her hair back from her face. It would do to look like some ragged woman when whoever came a calling finally walked through that door. Not that her water and dirt stained closed did anything to help her look like the wise old priestess that used to work here.

Crossing her arms across her chest, she places a warm smile on her face as the man crossed the threshold of the Altar. “Welcome, Prince,” as the air and her senses told her. “How many I help you today?” she said as she moved a little closer to the male. She didn’t recognized his face from the circles she use to travel with her father, but his clothing told me that he was one of the more upper class members of the Hayll society. She didn’t know what relieved her more the fact that he didn’t have a familiar face or the fact that he was raced or came from the same social class has her.

It was a bit confusing to feel all the emotions that she did when it came to her new positions. Court life had never really been a though much less and option in her mind when she was growing up. But here she was High Priestess of Hayll and serving in her brother’s First Circle. And those weren’t the only things that have changed in her life. She was free to do what she wanted now, and no longer had to summit to her father whims. It was a refreshing way to live.

"Good Morning" Azrael greeted the priestess, she was rather young for one in her position's, usually the keepers of the dark alters were old haggard crones, women who had worked and studied long to come into the position's. Women who knew their craft well. This must be one exceptional witch to come into the position so young, Azrael surmised as he flashed the woman a winning smile.

"It is not so much what you can do for me as what I can for you" He lifted the checkered cloth off the basket he carried, "Gifts to honor the darkness and care for the alter that is her sanctuary, and the woman who tends it" he explained, his eyes bright, his face fresh, showing no trace of his tragic past or dark vendetta.

"I hope they are to your liking, I would also like to offer my services for the rest of the afternoon. I am at your command my Lady" he said, bowing, a roguish gleam tainting his smile, not fading once he straightened from his deep bow, and he looked the woman over casually as he waited for her response. She was indeed a beautiful one, her eyes bright, her smile welcoming.

Raina bowed her head as the Warlord Prince approached and greeted her with his award winning smile. “Well then, I am glad to have you and your gifts.” She paused for a second as she flashed him her smile, “The Darkness thanks you for your offerings.” Traditional words, true, but they were said with such vigor that they just had to be true. She was one with the Darkness here. This was her place, her home more and more every day. This was the place where she belonged.

”I am at your command my Lady,”

Thos words made the Black Widow Priestess smile in a funny sort of way. It was ironic… or more those words were ironic coming from a man. It wasn’t that long ago that she was at the beck and call of her father. She was forced to serve him in any way that he wanted. That though sent a chill up her spine and yet again she was glad that she had found her brother. There was a man that she was proud to serve, proud to know, and proud to be related too.

“Well, then, what should I do with you first?” she playfully asked as the Green jeweled woman lead them further into the building that housed Hayll’s Dark Altar. There were many Dark Altars in Hayll, but none as grand as this one. This place was the heart and soul of the religion in Hayll. This place housed the main altar and the only one that had a Gate. It was grand as much as it was simple… much like the woman that tended it. “I just finish cleaning the altar, and then I was going to take a walk through the garden…” She paused as she looked over the man that stood next to her. He was a Warlord Prince and she knew all about Warlord Princes… her brother was one, and so was her father. Even so, there was one that never changed, they all like to serve. “Would you like to… or more would you be so kind to escort me on my walk?”

His playful grin widened, it wasn't often he had the time, nor the inclination to walk through a beautiful garden, on a beautiful day with a beautiful lady. It would seam that today was going to be a pleasant day. Something in his line of work, he found occurred all too seldom.

"Of coarse, it would be my pleasure my lady" he said with perhaps a little too much enthusiasm, "After you." he said motioning with his hand for her to lead the way, normally he would have offered her his arm as escort, but he thought that perhaps that would be a foolish thing to do today, as he didn't know the way to the gardens.

The day was indeed stunning, the air was perfumed with the scents of the early spring blossoms, and the sun shone warmly down upon them. It really was a perfect day for a walk, and he was glad he wouldn't be spending all of it indoors.
