So this isn't necessarily a QC problem, but the same tranny is in my truck and I'd rather find the solution now so that in case mine ever does the same thing in the future I'll know exactly what to do. So here goes: I drive my grandfathers 00 Ext. Cab Dak with just under 70k on the 3.9L. It's a piece of crap, I hate driving it, it sucks fuel, and I've put more money into the damn thing than my own truck. Right now it gets 9mpg HIGHWAY and I burn through a full 24 gallon tank of fuel going from Vermont to Connecticut; a total of 150 miles. Now I wouldn't be complaining about this on this basis alone, however, given the fact that the transmission sees fit to fill my life with the joyous experience that many women feel when they purchase a vibrator the size of a truck, I'm more apt to share this with you: For the past year I've been driving this thing. At first I had to deal with the false fill mark on the transmission dipstick, which I remedied with an extra quart of fluid. Then I replaced the TPS just recently and the truck ran flawlessly for about 10 minutes. Of course, immediately after thinking God doesn't hate me, this truck shifted into overdrive, and re-adjusted my vertebrae into the "little-bitty-pieces" category. I thought it was just the truck re-adjusting to the new TPS and passed it off, thinking little of it. Today, however, I drove back from Connecticut to Vermont, all the while every time I would come to the crest of a hill the truck would re-enact last years Japanese earthquake by shifting into overdrive. I don't know if this is fixable, I don't know what the deal is, and I have about as much experience when it comes to transmissions as a 9 year old has when it comes to childbirth. If anybody has any ideas as to what this is, if anybody has ever had this problem before, or if anybody knows a guy who knows how to deal with this, I will send you a bar of chocolate stamped with the kisses of a thousand princesses. I've looked on every other forum and it seems like my kindergarten class got a hold of a computer and played mechanic typist for a few days, leaving me answer-less. I almost feel like this should be in the 'vent' section, but whatever. Thanks anyway. |

sounds like the clutches are slipping and fluid is not travelling where it should. Kinda sounds like a rebuild or a tranny swap from another truck |

But just in OD? I would think if anything was slipping it would happen in other gears. I forgot to mention that when it's shaking the RPMs are fluctuating between 30-50 RPMs on the gauge making the needle go up and down. Also keep in mind that when I press the OD off button there is no shaking whatsoever. |

Greetings Group Anyone else thinking TPS.........throttle position sensor can give you the shakey quakey feeling. A transflush with a new set of filters never hurts...........but I would go for the TPS first......... Regards/Just Sayin........ TC
