I made a nice looking intake system. i used 3 inch manderal intake tubing by vibrant. and used some couplings but i had to cut the piping down to size. i kept the stock air box because it keeps stuff and water out and i got a drop in K&N filter. Let me know what you think or what i should do to improve. |

I'm not quite sure if this is completely correct or not, and please someone correct me if I'm wrong. I believe the two most restrictive parts of the intake are that big silencing box that sits on top of your engine(which you replaced) and the air box itself. Instead of getting a drop-in filter I would have got a K&N cone and clamped it to the end of your intake tube. I attached a picture of my intake, I think you could pull off essentially the same thing just without the housing around the filter. Anyways, awesome work with the tubing I wanted to actually paint my K&N tube to match my truck but I never got around to it.

Greetings Group I'd lose the factory air box cover and pull the rubber dam off the passenger rad side to help force air in. Drop in K&N is good but like Fire said, go for the conical style filter......if you still have the factory splash guard in your front wheel wells don't worry about water and mud getting to your filter............there are some good snaps and info about intakes under our search site.......check it and keep the questions coming Regards as always ![]() TC |

oh wow nice pricing though. definitely cheaper than a kit. anyways if you're talking about the tube that goes from the bottom of the air box to the wheel well, that should easily come out with the air box. i wondered if anyone else has this, but when you installed a full aftermarket intake, removing the resonator your intake makes such an awesome noise when you're really on the gas. almost like a vrrooom but instead of blowing exhaust, its sucking air. lol if your reading this you're probably like I love the way my engine sounds with the aftermarket intake.

You right that the air hat is more restrictive due to the silencer cutout that the factory puts in the air hats. However, the airbox is not as restrictive as most seem to believe. The nice thing about the factory sustem is that it actually pulls cold air from somewhere (ie in the fender). With most CAI on the market they pull more hot engine air than cold air or they have verystrange area of location to pull supposed cold air. Great example is the K&N system. They conical flows great, but its filtration suck and the box ends right in front of the PCM. Where is it supposedly pulling its cold air from, the fender behind the PCM? Oh by the way guys if you want performance like a K&N but you want the 99.4% filtration rate (vs the low 90s% filtration rate). R2C Performance makes a high flow, reusable/cleanable dry filter. You just have to send them your dimensions of the cone you need. |

Where did you get the bent piping to do this? Was it available to be bought like this or did you have a shop make it? |
