[mad] So i went to a local garage and asked if they could check out a rattle in the front end. Dude says "yeah your bushings are about shot, with that your end links should be replaced, if you have been driving it this way for a while your ball joints should all be replaced" He also mentioned front shocks, but I replaced those about a year ago. I asked him to write up an estimate and he come back with a whole package of $ 1423.63 [WTF] [WTF] [WTF] For some reason 2004 Dakota's are an oddball with aftermarket items. I could find most everything I needed except lower ball joints. I told dude thanx and that I'd be in touch. :nyeh: :nyeh: yeah right. I have done this type of work before and am hoping to do this myself to save some cash. Still have to get it aligned tho. Truck has almost 110k miles , mostly highway, newer tires . I don't want to start wearing out the tires . Still tracks straight , doesn't pull or anything until I hit bumps or snow in road, then it rattles . Still with the rattle it continues straight. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. [popcorn]

what bushings? a arms? thats strange, ive heard of them squeaking but not wearing out, sway bar bushings wear, theyre easy to replace, and only a couple bucks. bal joints, the top ones are easy, cut the rivets and replace em with bolts, lower ball joints are easy as long as you have a ball joint press and acess to a hoist, i just did mine, and tie rod ends are a simple twist off twist on. i cant see shocks wearing after a year but stranger things have happened.

Top ball joints are easy to replace like 04dak mentioned. Some auto parts stores will have a "loaner" program in place to get a ball joint press for the lowers if you buy the parts from them. Same for the ball joint separator or pickle fork as I call it. Give em a deposit on your credit card, bring it back when your done and there's no cost to use it. If this guy is saying your A arm bushings are shot I'd get a second opinion. They generally don't wear out. Especially with only 110K miles.

I had someting along that issue (hitting bumps and it would rattle and clunk) Could that possibly be a bad seal for the CV shaft? That was the issue for my last truck (1999 GMC Sonoma) So i had to replace the CV shaft CV seal and a few other things. Just a though. Hope everything works out well for you!
