This is a neat little modification that will give your Dakota a subtle new look of sorts. What it does is bring your side marker light into play when using the turn signals. As you know the front side marker light is either on or off depending if your park/head lights are off or on. Here is a diagram on the basic wiring on the front signals, minus one bulb because Dakotas have two turn signal bulbs and one side marker light per side. With the diagram below, the sidemarker lamps are wired exactly like the parking lamps. They are always grounded, and they receive +12V whenever the parking lamps are on. They are on whenever the parking lamps are on and never flash. ![]() Here's how to wire it to make the front sidemarkers do double duty as side turn signal flashers: ![]() With your parking lamps off the turn signal and side marker bulbs will flash together. And the cool part is with the parking lights on, your turn signal bulbs and side marker bulb will oscillate back and forth between each other. |

Thank alta for the pictures... If I can figure out how to get to the LEDs in mine... I'm going to rewire the inside running/turn signal light to be basically just another marker light... then the LEDs will be wired to blink in sequence. |
