I'm TOTM and now my tranny is giving me problems. Any one know anything about this code? I hope it is just a sensor or solenoid. I can't really afford for this to happen to me now. Things are too slow and I have to drive to far in it. I'm gonna try to change the fluid and filter and see if that helps. Thanks for the help. |

codes are pinned on the site http://s10.zetaboards.com/Dakota_Quad_Squad/topic/509526/1/#new in the general questions forum. some of them may not make sense but it will give yo an idea what's wrong. also autozone will tell you what the code is for free, turn off CEL free and may be able to get you the part to fix it (not free ) |

Over drive pressure switch is what I got when i googled it. I didn't find it under any of the codes listed here. I think I need to know more. If this is the problem, where do I pick one up? Where does it go and how do I fix it? The manual wasn't very specific on this.

I'm really afraid to drive it like this. My ability to search isn't so great. I may go to ask .com also. OH! On top of that the power steering pump is making a bunch of noise. Those around $114.99.

I'm not too up on automatic transmissions. Too damn complicated. lol My best advice would be to go to an independent transmission shop and ask them about it. They'll be able to tell you if it's an internal pressure switch or an external one that you might be able to change yourself. I had a problem once with my Dodge Ram not shifting out of second and it was throwing a code. Went to a transmission shop and told him what was happening and the code it was throwing. He knew exactly what the problem was, told me where the sensor was located on the tranny, and sold me the part. Luckily it was an external type sensor. Cost me $50 or so for the part and took me about 15 minutes to install it myself. Problem solved. |

Greetings Group Well.............you know I had to throw down a lile somethin'............ http://www.justanswer.com/questions/18w3t-2002-dodge-dakota-quad-cab-4x4-4 http://www.dodgetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2825860 If you have a Dodge Dakota built after 1996, you can defeature the overdrive anytime by switching the OD off with the OD switch. The OD switch is a push button that is located at the end of the gearshift. The temperature sensor for Chrysler automatic transmissions are located inside the transmission and measure the temperature of the transmission fluid. On RE series transmission the temperature sensor is integral with the Govenor Pressure Sensor that is attached to the valve body. On RFE transmissions the transmission temperature sensor is part of the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) that is attached to the transmission solenoid assembly. In general, Chrysler truck transmission (REs, RFEs) are designed to have no overdrive under 40 degrees F, and no torque converter lock up under 80 degrees F fluid temperature. Regards/Hope this helps ![]() |

None of that is helping me. I will go to those 2 sites and register and ask. I can't find this code mentioned anywhere. I'm gonna go to the tranny shop a friend of mine has and see what they say. Maybe they know what it is. I may just call them and ask. |

Greetings Code Talkers So............Nut...........The code was a P0700 or seven hundred, ight? Here is a Chapter I copied.......... Trouble code P0700 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was on my way to work last week at around 6 am and had a shifting problem with my truck. It was rainy and cold outside, and I had noticed on several mornings since the weather has turned cold that the truck revs high, and doesn't want to shift when I first start driving it. As I was driving last Wednesday, it did the same thing, but after a mile or so down the road, the truck died and the "engine symbol" and "oil symbol" dummy lights stayed on on the dash. I had to let the truck roll back down the hill and off to the side of the road. It would not even attempt to crank again. A couple hours later, I was able to start the truck right up, and after putting a scan tool on the diagnostic port, found the fault code P0700 showing. It was something about an error to the PCM from the transaxle. Took my truck to the shop and it was diagnosed that the transmission pump was failing. Apparently, with the automatic transmission on this truck with the 4.7L, the valve body is made into the transmission pump allowing it to be a fully electronic transmission. The mechanic said that they had had this problem with several vehicles including the Jeep Liberty and our trucks! The transmission had to be dropped and the pump replaced, the tranny flushed, and filled with new fluid and both filters replaced. The total bill with labor and parts was $1750.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost lost my lunch that day. Two weeks before Christmas too!!! Thanks Dodge. Pump was around $375 by itself and fluid was $8/quart and the tranny holds about 12 quarts!! Has anyone else had this problem with theirs??? I don't know if you can check Pump Pressure or not, but this info seem directly code specific......... Regards/GoodLuck TC PS...........upon further diagnosis...........How Is Your Fluid Levels.............ALL OF THEM...........Diff To Diff and everything in between are they LOW or OLD............This would be the least $$ to start looking.

P0700 is a generic code meaning I have another "code"! When I scanned it I got P1781. In all of the code lists I can't find that anywhere. This is starting to piss me off. It is shifting like crap and I don't want to burn this one up. I may replace the T.P.S. and see what happens from there. Only 3 more sensors to replace. This can get expensive real fast. Fluids are all good in everything. Nothing is overheating or anything. Maybe I should pick up a tranny cooler also. Can't hurt it any. The pressure will probably drop with that. If that is the problem. Something has to be wrong with it staying in a gear other than O.D. The amount of gas I'm using is just horrible.
