Tranny slipping in and out of O/D?

I have a problem with my '01 QC with a 4.7L slipping in and out of OD at highway speed. It will be running about 2K and it will drop out of OD and go right back in.

The only recent change I have made is switching the tires from 265/65/16 to 215/75/16, with was supposed to only be a 0.08% change in the speedo.

Could that be causing the problem or would a tranny flush be the place to start?

Thanks.

How many miles on the truck? the fluid and the expencive filters should be changed every 25k to 30k any way....not to say that is the reason for the od unit to fail.there's a moduel on the od unit that could be the problem.
Do you have a dakota repair book?

Thanks for the reply. The truck has 74K. I think I will start with a flush and filter change and go from there.

I don't have a repair manual...maybe a good idea?
