2001 QC Sport 4x4 automatic - No LEDs lit on the trans selector switch. Unable to select anything other than 2WD :(. Any ideas? I've heard it could be the module on the back of the switch or the motor assembly on the transfer case. Electrical connections and fuses look good. No P-codes. |

Check fuse number 8 in the left end of the dash. That is for the TRANS position indicator. |

Thanks for the tip but nope, no good on that. Can't hear anything moving and the front wheels definitely aren't being driven. Next...? |

I'm not sure if these next two are for the transfer case or the transmission, but there is a 20 AMP TRANS fuse and a TRANS RELAY switch located in the fuse box behind the battery. Also check recall notices. I found this one 2001 w/4WD: Electric shift-transfer case may not fully engage into gear, causing the transfer case to end up in the neutral position. NHTSA Recall Make / Models : Model/Build Years: DODGE / DAKOTA 2001 DODGE / DURANGO 2001 Recall Number: 01V077000 Summary: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: LIGHT DUTY TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 4-WHEEL DRIVE. THE ELECTRIC SHIFT TRANSFER CASE MAY NOT FULLY ENGAGE INTO GEAR WHEN THE OPERATOR MOVES THE TRANSFER CASE SELECTOR SWITCH. Consequence: THIS COULD CAUSE THE TRANSFER CASE TO END UP IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION UNEXPECTEDLY AND ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO ROLL AWAY IF THE PARKING BRAKE IS NOT APPLIED. Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE TRANSFER CASE CONTROL MODULE. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN APRIL 9, 2001. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403. Notes: ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236). |
