Well I was hoping to bring this along to your meet last night, but didn't pick it up till today.

It's an R-reg Nissan Almera 2L Gti with 77,000 miles on the clock, with 3 previours owners.

The photos make the paint look faded, but its not, there's also no rust that I can find, even around the rear seat belt mounts.

The car is rather dirty at the moment, and the clutch will need changing soon, other than that its a very nice and nippy car.

Not sure if I like the 17" wheels ?

P.S it's good to be back in a Japanese car.

Thanks lol.. I do tend to change my cars a lot, sadly I grew up with my dad owning a network of car garages, so his habbits have rubbed off lol..

Did a spot of cleaning on the inside this morning..

I still have the engine bay to clean

I also have a list of jobs to do, i.e.

Sort the clutch out - I oiled the pedal and cable today as it was sticking, but I think the clutch is slipping under load, as I tried some 5th gear rolling starts lol. Although the car pulls ok in the gears normally.

I want to sort the wheels and tyres, not sure 17" are best for the car.

Also I'm looking at the suspension, as it sits a little high.

But firstly I will do the oil and filters and get the A/C re-done. It blasts out cold air.. but I want to freeze lol.

my first car was a red gti like this one with factory fitted kit, in the whole year yes a flippin year i had it not a single fault and it was brilliant,

only thing i found was it was cack at speed felt wobbly and handled poorly when pushed but mine was completely standard,

if i cant stretch my funds to a scoob soon i'll get one of these to for a track car.

for a first car you found it to slow ? :o - i have an SRi (1600 cc twin cam) as my first car and its quicker then all the other 1.6's i learned to drive in- focus's civic's etc.

agree on the wobbly stock suspensions though  - lowering springs on almeras make a MASSIVE difference to handling. :afro:

Paulinho my clutch was doing the same - you maybe lucky and it could be just the cable needing to be replaced. Just don't go to westovers for a new one if it is -the stealership quoted £90 for the cable without fitting on the SRi

weitec lowering springs with KYB gas shocks mate - they don't make it look no where near as low as a coilover kit - but the handling is in my opinion exceptional and firm

Cheers on that one.. The shocks feel pretty firm, it's just the ride height is a little high.

I will check out the cable tomorrow morning :D

I've had a few quotes for changing the clutch as there seems to be 1/2 an inch of clutch at the very top of the pedal.. just odd it doesn't do it when you open it up in each gear.

I've had quotes up to and around £800+ to do it lol.. although it wasn't actually that long ago I helped change a clutch on a French car  but due to having an old mans back now, its best I don't go lifting gearboxes anymore.. shame lol

hammers no i didn't find the car slow it was for a firrst car brilliant, i found it crap at speeds ie over 100mph cough cough it felt to light for me, and at one point doing maxi chat it slid across the motorway lanes like there was ice but there wasn't lol.

as a car i found it great, i've always recommended them

Agree totaly there rapid shed B) - the gearboxes do also tend to get a lil clunky at high rpm also (as seen on reviews).

Think they were rated the 7th most reliable car in past surveys etc.

They are a very underated jap hatch - its not all civic and startlet on that end of the market.

Paulinho - theres a guy on the AOC forum called Joe ( alias "shaggymaster" ) his 5 door Gti conversion is probably one of the best examples of how low you can make the almera sit on coilovers with no GTi bodykit :D

good luck with the clutch mate and i will keep my eyes open next time im in Swanage for ya

Well I came out from work today not feeling at all well, and as I walked closer to the car I spotted the small car park dent on the car had grown... seems the car is magical and the dents get bigger when it's parked up.

Well this morning I spent some time looking over the car, as oddly it has developed a rattle after about 4000rpm.. I had the bonnet open and was reving the car from the engine bay and couldn't hear it. So I sat in the car reved it up, and it rattled like a good'en. Went back to the engine bay, reved it, couldn't hear anything lol..

So stood with the door open, and reved it from the side of the car, and I heard the rattle near the front. So laid on the floor and reved the car, and the downpipe is moving about around the honey comb area. So another job to do at work :D

I'm thinking about changing the wheels.. I'm either going to try and get some oem rims, or replace the 17" kerb alloys with some new 16" or 17" black rims with new tyres.

:D

Well had the car up on the ramps at work, and a U-bolt had come away.. so it's all fixed now, and rattle free. I've just got to get this Friday out the way, and then I can start looking at changing a few things on the car :D
