It was a private sale and any fault detectable via reasonable inspection (such as a bad gearbox) is your responsibility and any item not detectable via reasonable inspection that the owner doesn't know about (such as drive shaft issues if it's not detectable via a test-drive) is not their responsibility either.

beg to differ i have been speaking to a few people and looks like it will be going to small claims court if he does not co'operate as theree is somethings he didnt do right can go into them as dont want to give them away to this member :P

Be sure to keep us all updated. "I told you so" is one of my favourite things to say :)

will do :D , do love getting good infomation about the car from the previous owner :) :)

That sucks big time!

I'm guessing everyone's looked through the 'for sale' thread by now.

My money's on the one with black rims  harsh to rip off a fellow djcc'er

Hello to everyone on this thread who has had there say on this topic right lets start at the beginning.....

Firstly i was the one that sold Willsh the saxo

Secondly i was not aware of any problems with the car like Willsh i had test driven this car before i swapped it for my civic if there was a problem with it i would not of swapped it in the first place!!

Thirdly i did not tuck anyone up as i sold the car in good faith to Willsh after over a months worth of communication with with him as he gradually knocked me down in price.

Fouth i let the car go in the end at a reduced price a) because i needed the money like all of us out there at the mo and b because i needed it gone as i swapped the car back in oct/nov last year and it had just sat on my drive the whole time.

Number 5 I am not a mechanic nor have i ever driven or owned a saxo before so therefore as far as i was concerned it drove and went ok.

Six this is the first time I have seen this thread as i have been without an internet connection for a couple of weeks therefore unable to log on, but now after reading this i want to put my side across to give a balance to this so people can make up their own minds.

Seven As i had taken a lot less for the car than i could afford to as i had swapped my civic for it in a an attempt to make a cleaner sale, and i had just spent the money on insuring it for the sole purpose of taxing it for sale i can not afford to part with more cash on a problem that when i sold the car was not aware was there... as harsh as that sounds Willsh seemed like a nice guy when i met him but i am not a trader therefore when i sold the car it was in good faith an as seen and tested.

Eight i hope that the members on here do not think bad of me as i have explained this is just an unfortunate situation, but for what its worth i wish Willsh and his Missus all the best with their new family.

Fairplay dibbs, this is the first time i have commented on this aswell as i wanted to see the other side of the story.

Just sounds unfortunate, i bought a duf car of a friend once but he only took it in as trade in.

Look Willsh i dropped the price to sell it as you were the only person taking an interest in the car and dropped me by over £500 so i think you got a bargain i am the one out of pocket and as you bought it as a trader i would of thought you would of known what you were doing a lot better than me.
As i said in my previous post i had no idea on the condition of the gearbox etc and as far as i was concerned it was ok and still is as all i have is your word that it is faulty.
As for you warning other members against me that is just petty.
I am sorry that we have had this unfortunate incident but that is exactly what it is.

As this is a personal dispute and both parties have had their say we feel it is best to close this topic before it escalates any further.
