Anybody on here any good, or know anyone thats good with Vauxhall Vectra's?

Char's parents P-reg Veccy has popped its head gasket which got fixed a while back and its been a bit of a reoccuring problem since.

We can't afford a garage to do the whole thing at the moment, I'd attempt it myself but I don't know Vauxhall's etc.

Ideas?

Any help appreciated

If the head gasket has gone again it may have a warped head they should always be checked when changing the head gasket

If you are getting a coolant / oil mix this could also point to a crack in the head

Not sure about a coolant oil mix, I'll have to have a gander tomorrow at it.

I presume there will be signs of oil in the rad?

(Not very technical when it comes to headgaskets, but would this provoke there being 'mayo' in the rad cap etc, or am I on the wrong track?

Cheers for the advice dude :)

The mayo in the rad cap could be oil mix if it's not too bad it could just be leftover from the last time it blew

The only sure way to check it is using a block tester on the cooling system this will check for hydrocarbons in the water, its a simple test takes 5 mins ;)

I assume this is something a garage can do?

I haven't checked the rad cap yet but will do tomorrow.

Would not bleeding the coolant system after changing the coolant be a precursor for the headgasket to go again (not that it wasn't, just thinking)

A local garage should be able to do the test the kit is quite cheap to buy, we have one here if you get stuck

Get that done first then look into it further depending on the outcome :)
