Just wondering, could I get away with using spray paint on a splitter on a matt white car or would it be a job for the pros

Thanks

My mate Martin sprayed foglight covers on his Scoob, a few coats of white paint and a few coats of lacquer...they came out really well.

So i suppose it depends on how handy you are with cans.

Failing that theres a guy on DS who owns his own bodyshop and is very good and very cheap.

its pretty easy to do with a can of primer, white and laquer.... just got to have LOTS of patience on the coats....

Or as Jay said, martin from dorset scoobys is cheap, and from what i have seen, good...

My car is going in there for a re-spray in a couple of weeks, so i hope he is good!!!!!!

ok cheers guys, if it was any other colour apart from white i wouldn't considerer it but maybe i'll have a go just to see how it comes out. i want a BGW aswell so i could save a fair bit if i can do a decent job.

i did a few rc car shells when i was young and know you need to spray it in very thin layers and build them until you get a nice even covering. if it looks bad i'll of only wasted a tenner or so..

need to buy the car first tho, getting a bit ahead of myself.

thats gonna look awesome i reckon lee, i'll definitly have to come along to a meet ones of these days and see how it comes out.

a good tip with rattle cans is to stand them in a bowl of boiled water to warm them up. For 2 reasons...1 being that the heat builds up pressure in the can so you can lay more paint on & 2 the paint drys much quicker allowing you to lay it on nice & wet for a smoother finish. If you make a balls up of it i would be happy to do the job for you if you drop the part off.

dont fanny about with thin dry coats. Give it 1 dryish coat then slap a nice wet even coat on-leave to tack off then hit it with another wet 1. Once dry give it a quick flat off with some p1500 wet n dry then polish up with some t-cut,then when your happy a coat of wax to finish off should do.
