Easy enough to get and replace even universal ones will do ;)

That's the steering rack "track rod end" it screws into the rack and is locked into place by the nut you can see just right of the red circle

Getting the rubber boot for that will be quite hard usualy just comes with the complete rod

Best to try a dealer first see if they list it if not scoure the net

If you remove that arm the wheel alignment will have to be adjusted

YEP THATS A TRACK ROD END I WOULD REPLACE IT NOT JUST THE RUBBER AS ONCE IT HAS SPLIT THE DIRT WILL GET IN AND IT SHOULD BE REPLACED. IF YOU BUY THE SAME ONE AND YOU DONT WANT TO GET THE TRACKING CHECKED WHEN YOU UNDO THE LOCK NUT YOU CAN UNWIND THE TRACK ROD END COUNTING THE TURNS THEN SIMPLEY PUT THE NEW ONE ON AGAIN COUNTING THE TURNS AND IT WILL END UP IN THE SAME PLACE , TO REMOVE THE BALL JOINT UNDO THE NUT THEN HIT THE SOCKET HARD AND IT WILL DROP OUT

just thinking has anyone got a long spanner i can borrow for this job?
as my socket set only has a short arm and i cant get any leverage on it.

the nuts on this car are impossible to remove :(

i had the same problem when trying to get mine off... The end bolt on top of the track rod is easy to undo....

The locking nut on the arm is a bit more tricky... I had my car jacked up(obviously) but actually got underneath the car from the front bumper and pushed the spanner towards the wheel arch.. you can get a lot better leverage that way, and dont need a 'long' spanner, just a bit of brute force!!!! :D

i was due a free recheck of my alinement at christchurch tyre centre.
so i went over on thursday. changing the track rods ends did put my toe angle out by a lot. So it seems counting the turns was not successful.
