Good morning club,

my MOT is due on december 7th- and i am worried it is going to fail on the wheel hub which i think, but dont know....could be broken. do nationwide autocentre do " pre mot car checks" ??

im looking to give the car a total check up because i need to know what work and monies need doing and spending to keep the thing on the road ( because i need my car to get to work- and court in mid december!!)

how do i book an appointment with them.. if they can help!?

It would be a good idea to just book it for a MOT rather than just looking over it that way you will know of anything that needs doing as all points will be covered

The retest is free should it fail

VOSA dont approve of pre MOT checks as they mess up pass/fail percentages that they monitor, if a higher number of cars passed after having work done because of a pre check it could affect the goverments view on changing the 1st test from 3 years to a 4 and a test every 2 years after

VOSA want to keep it as it is :)

cool stuff- thanks very much,

some good news is that i phoned and spoke to bob ( although it took a while to click that it was him...) and he said the same thing about just booking the car in for a test- which i shall do! can i do an MOT at any time and pass it through (thus renewing for the year) before it runs out on the 7th of DEC?

also - if it fails and needs work doing ( bearing in mind id be getting the work done by you guys) am i able to bring the car back another day to do the work without having to pay for a re-test? or should i leave it with you until sorted??

oooo and also do i need a spare wheel for an MOT?

You can pre date the MOT by up to 30 days so no problem doing it now

You can take car away if you wish and bring back :)

No you don't need a spare but if it has a slung under carrier make sure it's secure
