Covered Plates; for track days

when i went for a track day a few of my freinds covered there plates with some duck tape and told me to do the same so i did (didnt go on track neway car was 2 loud) but just wonderin why they did and why they told me to?

Starlet GT 1.3 forged engine, tdo4 turbo @ 1.25bar = 252bhp = SOLD :(

EDIT: Charade GTxx 993cc three cylinder turbo, 173bhp @ 1.4bar (should hit 200bhp with a larger throttle body, removing stupid high lift cams and a bit more boost)

Tom mate,

they do it so that if you splat your car on track and then try to do an insurrance claim / recovery claim etc and then they find proof (photographic evidence) that you were racing on a race track then they are more than likely going to quash the insurannce claim.
