Hey people, You may remember my AE86, well I still have her, and in two minds wether to sell it or not as I do love the car and is an icon in its own right, I'm not having to sell it but don't know what to do? The car is worth about 3.5k so is a good pool of money to spend on the s15 but then I will be losing on having an icon i've long respected. Or do I keep it and dress it up well and use it as a 2nd car/drifter? Any opinions appreciated. |

Ditto. There are some very cheap lockups about. I know of some for £10 a week if you are interested. Shame to get rid of it mate. |

i personally mate would sell it.... People get attached to things, but in reality, and no offence to the AE86, but it is never going to become a PROPER text book classic..only by age.. In the drift world it is a classic, but you have the memories, you have the pics and videos....... Unlikely in a few years time, that it will still be worth much.....and think of the extra costs in insurance and tax too.... you could buy a lot of tyres with a few grand...

As much as i like the 86... Move on and pump the cash into the 15 You know it makes sense . The 15 is certainly as capable as the 86 in drift terms and if your not scared an absolute weapon B). The 15 not only makes a great track car it also doubles up as an awsome daily driver aswell so why fork out the cash to run two cars..???HOWEVER, there is always the issue of sourcing parts for the 15... Engine and chassis bits are easy but body panels on the other hand is a different story!!! Crashu in a 15 will def be a bigger pain in the bum that crashu in the 86! If you can afford to keep both then do it but if the 86 just ends up sitting there and hardly gets used then its just dead money that could be used on the 15 instead... Choice is yours dude J. |

Personally i would sell it mate and spend the money on the S15 as i up untill recently was going to keep my GTO as well as the GTR but the GTO just ended up sitting on the drive way doing no miles at all apart from a trip to the Nurburgring where i bent it and ended up losing over a grand when i came to sell it, however if you do need somewhere to keep the AE86 could work something out and keep it on my drive way as its just round the corner from you can come round anytime and there is normally someone at home day or night pretty safe too.

AE86's are awesome and if i was offered one i would take it without a second thought, they're are great fun, i have a cusion who had a 86 Levin (he's got a MR2 now )but at the end of the day dude it really does depend on if you can afford to run two fine JDM cars Kev |

Sell it. Sweet car, but you can only drive one at a time and the S15 will be the better drift car. £3.5k spend on an S15 will buy you a full suspension, brake and power upgrade. |

Dont sell it. S15s are modern and much easier to come by. For a measly 3.5k which isnt a massive amount of cash really you wont be able to replace it so easy if you regret it. If you can afford to run both then keep for a few years. Or sell the s15 and pop a 20v black top in it!!! |

Bugger that, sell the S15. All that money you wasted on the nissan could have made an awsome AE86, bloody traitor. On a slightly more serious note, if you want to insure me on the 86, ill look after it, make sure its gets driven every now and again

??? I dont need to own an S15 to know they will suffer the same problems as an s14/a, seeing as its the same engine. Also having done most jobs on an s14 and being a qualified mechanic with a massive interest in the tuning and workings of all jap cars obviously doesnt count for a thing. |

Although it would be a great shame to see it go, i think you should sell it mate . . . . . to me for £1.58 Depends if your going to use it much mate tho from what i hear sounds like the S15's got you hooked on the dori dori action as well as being your daily driver. You could always get your licence for competing in drift events, take the AE86 off the road and build it into a full on drift machine! Check my 2 possible new tail sliders, i'm torn between the 2! ( money providing that is! ) ![]()

I thought the 86 was going to be used for your drifting, hence why you havent repaired it or made it look "pretty". If thats the case i wouldnt have thought the S15b was a good choice for drifting especially as Juistin has said body panels are a night mare to get hold of. |

Obviously not else you would know the S14 and S15 are completely different. Like comparing an S13 to a 14 Engine is an SR20 yes but the S15 varient is different.... Different Turbo Different Manifold Different Injectors Different Ignition system Different Cam cover and top head design No EGR on the S15 Different Elbow Different Exhaust Different Diff Better ECU Mapping Different Fuel system Different / Strenthened Chassis parts and Shell Construction Not exactly the same car now is it Im not having a pop before you chuck ya toys out the pram, mearly saying, get ya facts straight before you assume you know what the score is ;). Not saying it wont break down, if may if treated badly, same as the 86 probably would. But to say IT WILL break down because you worked on a 14 and like Jap cars is just plain barmy    S15s are completely different cars to 14's J. |
