I have just fitted my dump valve, but it sounds quiet and a bit tinny!

Is this normal or is there something wrong with the valve??

Please help!!

Could be the spring strength. If its too hard for the level of boost you're running it will sound a bit... well, shite.

I was told by messing about with the screw at the back then it could up the boost then detonate the turbo? Are you saying i should losen the spring off or tighten it up? How do you know to much or to little?

Yep had a listen on there and fitted to skylines! They do sound the same as mine but sound a little weedy! sounds like my old Octavia VRS! That had a Baily's and it sounds just like that! I thought with a skyline it would sound a little more hardcore.

Do you think it will need setting up properly?

I was referring to the spring inside that pushes the piston/diaphram... no idea what the screw is you're referring to, but I cant see how adjusting anything on a D/V would alter the boost levels for the engine...

Sorry, it is more like a bolt that adjusts the spring strength!

Oh in that case, fire away... I know some D/V's are adjustable. Winding that in/out shouldnt affect anything other than the spring compression... try winding it out slightly and go for a spin. Report back :)

Too scared to do that! But it does feel a little weak as it doesn't release at low boost!!!

Nothing like a good release :D

Have you got a link to the D/V you bought?

Ah right. Well, to be honest mate, if the bolt on the back os deffinately for adjusting the spring strength then you'll be fine adjusting it. All an atmospheric D/V is doing is releasing air, its not going to affect your engine.

It MAY however cause the car to idle a bit rough if you make the spring too weak... if that happens, just turn it back the other way.

Will have a go tomorrow! See how i get on and let you know how i get on thanks for the advise! you sure it won't blow the turbo??

It really shouldnt do mate! - If you've got a boost gauge, just keep an eye on it... if you're worried, do the bolt in small steps.

My mate has fitted another vacum pipe and a new bung for the re circulating pipe (i hade a WD40 cap in there).

He hade a mess about with the bolt in the back so i think everything is working fine. It has stopped backfiring so it ust be curred.

Also you have an fmic, does your air con still work???
