I've got a bit of a problem with one of my struts. Unfortunately one of the locking ring that you use to lock the strut at a certain height has snapped making them impossible to adjust. This also stops me getting the car tracked and the camber aligned which badly needs doing. I was going to let Mike Stokes do the whole job along with all setup but they have turned out to be the world’s most useless garage so i've given up and am thinking of doing the repair myself. just a couple of question.. Is rebuilding a strut generally an easy job or do you need specialist tools/knowledge? Does anyone know of a Tein spares dealer that I can source a new locking ring from? The coilovers are Tein Type-HA. Thanks |

John I had the locking ring nuts go on my coilovers it was an easy fit however you cant buy from Tein direct you need one of there traders to get the parts for you.. Lewis (leggyturbo) got them through diftworks I think I am sure when he gets online after work he will be able to point you in the right direction

Thanks Elaine thats exactly what I wanted to here. I gave diftworks a ring and they sounded very positive. Just got to get the part number and they'll get a new ring on order. I was going to get the tracking done at mike stokes but their customer service is absolutely abysmal so i'm on the look out for for somewhere too. if i find somewhere and they do a decent job, i'll let you know. shame we haven't got any tyre service places in the official vendors section.. hint hint rob

mike stokes are useless full stop. Best place to get 4 wheel alignment done is protyre in poole or at Evans garage in crossways |

hi mate, you can fit the new rings yourself, get a whole set of 8 (4 hight platforms and 4 locking collars) will set you back about 100 quid. Just wire brush and chip out all the old cruddy alloy from the threads and copper grease them before you refit the rings, i just hacksawed the old ones off on elaines. good as new now

Cheers guys, I took my wheel off yesterday but the strut was not a pretty sight. think its going to need a lot of penetrating oil, wire brushing and hack sawing before i'll be able to get the new ring on I gave driftworks another ring yesterday and they said they'd call back with a price but they didn't, called them again today and they said the same thing. I'm going to give it until about 5 o'clock then try kandy man's dealer i think. Once its all done it'll take a trip over to Evans tho , i've heard a few goo things about them Just can't believe how hard it is to get this job done. its not even like i'm trying to do it on the cheap oh well its the last thing on my list so figures crossed i'll get a few weeks off before the next thing goes wrong
