is your windscreen not on the front of your car? We built a stratos and that had a numberplate sticker, due to the angle of the bonnet, is that illegal because its on the top of the car???

Well the windscreen isn't exactly the front of a car is it!

When you have a front end collision the windscreen ain't usually the first thing to make contact is it???

It doesn't say forward facing, it says front.

It's about time some of you took on board that they're clamping down on illegally spaced, placed and sized number plates.
There have been plenty of warnings and examples of people getting fined so I think Seb got lucky.

(Sits back and waits for a post in a few weeks from MaccyD saying "I got fined....." and if he "can't be bothered" he'll deserve everything he gets :) )

i guess what you need to consider is the whole 'cruize culture' plays a large factor in how a police man deals with these kind of instances. 9 times out of 10 they will pull over a person that they would consider a spotty oik, for the smallest reason to do their checks.

now i'm not saying that having the number plate on your dash is legal, but what i am saying is that if it was an old couple in a volvo V40 towing a caravan, they wouldn't even blink at it. Having recently been mistreated by a police officer i can happily report that even with my numberplate on the dash, he did not do anything and he WAS looking for a reason (swore at me and called me various obscenities for accellerating hard but not breaking the limit).

To be pulled over specifically because fo your numberplate seems a bit pointless, but i wouldn't say harsh and that is what seems to have clouded the 'disagreement' above...

sorry it just seems slightly retarded that people are saying i would deserve having my car nicked and burnt out or saying they pretty much want me to get a fine. Putting my plate on the bumper was on my list of things to do 2moro. I was just making a point based on my own experience and most seem to have got irritated by that for some reason.

anyways, good luck with the splitter, from the looks of your pic you need it! i hated my bumper with nothing under the FMIC.

Thanks MaccyD, i hate the front of my car as much as everyone else.....so much i am no longer using it till the splitter is sprayed and on....will order it tomorrow.........

Everyones aloud their own opinion....i dont see a issue with putting it on dash...cos i could read it from a distance...... but rules are rules.

Im sure Johhny didn't mean he wanted your car stolen...lol.....just IF it was and they couldn't read plate we would complain....which i prob would.

Just need to fit it in right place and have done wiv it.....lol....dam i gota buy a plate to...

law is all about interpretation in my opinion. whats the reason for it to be on the front? so it can be read if you are looking at the front of the car, which i think you can.

Keep the long one and put it on the splitter like i did with my old starlet

i think it looks quite cool but you may not have room to do that.

and maybe he didnt mean it directly, but its kind of overly aggresive considering the topic is on numberplate location. nobody is moaning and saying about the guy who didnt even have a number plate at all, know what i mean?

made what clear, i dont think you were makinbg a point at all. i know this thread isnt about me, but you see what you do in a conversation is you add to it based on your own experiences, otherwise the only person to post on a thread would be the one who made it, that would make for a boring thread i think.

ok.. appologies for the 3rd post here but this does seem like people are gonig WAAAY over the top.

It could have been a healthy debate regarding the general interpretation on what can be considered a relativley trivial law. If the number plate was not displayed at all i can see an issue, but that is why having it on the dash is open to healthy debate.

FYI my front end looks like so and the reson my palte is not on the front is due to it falling off during the changing of my turbo gasket-

I also passed an MOT with it as thus. So it is definatly a good point to debate.
