Doesn't have a home to go to!

I was on route from Tesco's in Ferndown to iceland, at the cross roads by the garage....i saw a police car, but thought...sod it he can wait,.....well he followed me into iceland car park and blocked me off. Got a telling off all becos my front number plate was not in its ' Proper Position'

Aparently a £30 on the spot fine....but i got a good will gesture and got let off!!

What a nice policeman :P

To follow up on my 'Speeding' I thankfully got offerd a 3 hour day out to Dorch police station, which costs £60 (the fine) No points :worship: Thankgod

i supose it's fair enough but i thought a warning/7 day wonder would have been easier.
just get a square one made up and put it on the bumper (passenger side) inbetween your driving/fog light and fmic as i think that's legal.

I think what the Pc was getting at...is it just has to be on the front bumper somewhere....not inside the car

Dunno, he was VERY young....and in a good mood... :D

He said to me that he had just ticket'd someone else for a simular affence, I blamed the garage..... Said that work had been done and the bottom bar had been remove as was damage, so the plate couldnt go on. He seemed fine.....Ran a few checks on the car and me....all fine...Thats it.

seems pretty harsh to me, i reckon he was just trying to put the shits up you. I have my plate in excactly the same place and so does my friend and mine is even on the drivers side so technically i could move it if i wanted. Ive followed a police car today for about 10 mins and been past at least 10 with no hassle at all.

I don't think it was harsh at all. Sounds like a very decent cop to me. (As many of them are.)

Did you miss read the thread where Seb mentioned it was on his dash??

Im sure tho, that i have seen trade plates in the windows of cars before......anyways was a interesting day out to iceland!

Well no, it's not like anyone is gonna come to any harm but it's not where the law says you should have a number plate.

I could waffle on but I'm not one to argue on t'internet! :P

well im not gonna leave it there forever, i just cant be arsed to drill holes in my bumper to fit it. when/if i get pulled over (probably tomorrow after this lol, damn you fate) i will use some excuses and then fit it the next day lol. Im just saying people are making him out to be a saint, and yes it was good that he let you off, but i think it was harsh to pull you over in the first place.

You don't need to drill holes fella. 2 self tapping screws or a whole bunch of sticky backed foam tape stuff. :)

but i cant be arsed, thats thwe point. It the law may say it has to be there, but im saying its a trivial offence, chances are you will always get let off unless you give them lip.

:) This was a interesting read.....seeing as ' from stood at the left' of the car you can only see some letterings....this is not right. But other then that you can basically have it anywhere on the front....(being sensable)

Also the 'Style of lettering' is a interesting read !

But can you be arsed with the hassle??

Personally I would rather keep my car looking legal and having only been pulled once in 16 years motoringI think it's payed off!

I can't say that that document is 100% up to date and correct right now but it was the most recent I could find. :)

It says it should be on the front of your car quite near the top.

is your windscreen not on the front of your car? We built a stratos and that had a numberplate sticker, due to the angle of the bonnet, is that illegal because its on the top of the car???
