Took my car to my mates garage for idle problem and over fueling! Didn't give him a lot of time with it, however the emissions are through the roof and will fail MOT. Does anyone think this is going to cost me a fortune to get sorted? |

dont know if its applicable for the skylines but on z32 fairladys you can remove a vacuum pipe from the balance bar and it drops the emissions to passable levels. you may have a simular trick for the skylines. just enough to get you through an mot and sort the probelm later. |

what about a fuel neck restrictor like they use on SVA tests sometimes for new imports? that could help your over fuelling for the MOT emissions. |

Well MOT isn't untill November but i am worried that what ever it is will be expensive! The garage said they wanted to keep it for a couple of days to see what it is! |

Get the car remapped that will surely help with your over fueling mate.

Try taking it to Nationwide Autocentre in the vendors section. They know some tricks to do to get cars through.

no no no no!!!!! that seems to be everyones answer to overfuelling cars. all it does is mask the problem. Get it fixed first THEN remap it |

not sure what skylines have but most modern cars have plugs for computer checks of everything on the car. it will bring up fault codes so the garage can diagnose the problem. just incase you have a sensor down or your exhaust lambda which sorts most of your fueling levels out

I dont have a skyline but mine fails every time on emissions. I have to replace my cat every year. I keep a spare cat for the mot to just about get it through.

What Gaz says Also when you said high emissions what are the readings etc? Fitting a cat will probably not fix the original problem, fuelling issues are usually caused by a faulty oxygen sensor. Taking it out and cleaning it plus checking the connections and wiring are worth a try As far as MOT I can do it for you when the time comes (as per Robs post ) |

I have full Japspeed Exhaust, Apex Filter, De-cat! It is a 95 GTS-T! I have had the idle sensor cleaned but the garage said the need it for a couple of days so they can take a few other bits off and clean them! I am hoping the idle problem is the same as the emissions problem! Maybe to much fuel trying to go through causing it to flood at low revs?????? |

Just do a fault code test mate.. Which, either involves paying nissan to plug into to it or use the old paper clip method Find the Grey consult plug which will be somewhere under the dash on the drivers dies. Short out the two right pins with a paper clip when you have the car ignition switched to ON (but not started) Short the wires for 3 seconds (the CHECK ENGINE light will turn off while you are shorting them out). remove clip and the CHECK ENGINE light will flash a series which will indicate a code - LONG LONG LONG LONG LONG (pause) SHORT SHORT SHORT SHORT SHORT - indicates 55 which is ALL CLEAR. Any other combination means a sensor failure and probably what is causing your overfuel. If you leave it flashing the code and then start the engine you will have an inbuilt LEAN/RICH indicator that works off your O2 sensor (which must be warmed up before it will do it). To stop the check, short out the two pins again and the flashing will stop and the engine check light will come on as per normal. Works on every nissan I have owned and seen it done on a GTS so may be worth a go if ya havent already done it ;). However, sounds like the lamda the screwed J |

if you have had the car checked on a pc for fault codes and there are none the next thing i would get checked is for air leaks all pipes and vaccum pipes and manifold gaskets etc. some garages put a gas/smoke in your system and have a sniffer to find if where it is coming from. an air leak in your system could easily cause both of the symptoms you are describing. |

AS soon as you start with breathing mods on a skyline you will start it overfueling... its just one of those things... the only way to cue is to get some sort of fuel management SAFC, Stage 1 ECU from Rising Sun performace, Apexi PFC (thats what I have, but would like to trade it in for a custom remap of my standard ecu from RSP) The RSP Stage 1 ecu is about £300 |

i'd say it sounds like a faulty MAF sensor which wont necessaraly show up when you do a fault code check. Try and borrow a known good one off another car and try it on your car to see if it sorts it out |

Thanks, if i can borrow it in november for mot time that would be great. i will speak to my mate about this and see if he can sort a re map for me! They also have a 1000bhp rolling road! They have completed a 1000hp skyline so they should know what they are doing! |

Not sure yet car is with my mates at there garage, so hopefully should come up with something!!! It is being rolling road-ed, so if it is under powered then there is a bigger problem!!! If it's OK with Rob i will stick there details up on here as they are very good friends of mine and would like them to get some extra business! |
