might be the mass air flow sensor mate, or could be an air leak or coil packs loads of stuff, sounds like air leak to me, have you got a dump valve? if so try blocking it off

EDIT: Charade GTxx 993cc three cylinder turbo, 173bhp @ 1.4bar (should hit 200bhp with a larger throttle body, removing stupid high lift cams and a bit more boost)

A good test with the MAF is to unplug it whilst the car is idling and see if engine cuts out, if nothing happens then it may be that..as for coilpacks remove each one pull off the rubber cap and inspect for cracks, you could also put some insulating tape around the neck of the coilpack before you refit the rubber...

Does the problem happen under high boost or just normal driving.?

It will insulate the coilpack and help it from arking out....TBH tho unless the coil packs are completely fooked they usually only breakdown under high boost due to a weak spark so gets blown out.....you could also have a plug thats breaking down.

It really could be a number of things, process of ellimination.

Did you gap the new plugs before you fitted them?

Is the car standard if not what mods is there?

i would say its the coilpacks if they're taped up, i had a similar problem where it would missfire etc and i bought a new set of coil packs and has been fine ever since until now where its over boosting lol

its either that or gapping the plugs, DAS dont know the first thing about tuned cars. ideally impreza plugs need to be gapped down to abt 0.7 - 0.6mm IIRC. I would also try cleaning the MAF out if you havent already, as the K&n filter is full of oil which in time will foul up the MAF element :)
