hi guys my car is misfiring when cold and is not quite right in general, when i de accelerate e.g going down a hill in 2nd or 3rd it sounds like the revs are riding.
also i noticed that it only misfires bad when boosting and just a bit lumpy during normal driving.

i have changed..

- Lambda sensor
- turbo intake pipe
- coolant temp sonsor
- plugs
- boost vacume pipes
- maf sensor
- 1 x coil pack
- blitz nur spec :D

but i still have the same problems.

any ideas Thanks david

i have tried an ecu reset as i was getting code 45 come up whan i had a split air intake. and it seemed to sort that problem but a havnt tried it since then (last week).
its not doing it all the time only maybe once or twice in each gear as i floor it.

i will give it a try tomorrow.

I had a serious misfire last month, when i ever it was on boost in the high rev range it was terrible. I re-gapped the plugs to 0.6mm, removed all coil packs pulled the rubber off wrapped the top in insulation tape put the rubber back on then reset the ecu...."touch wood" it hasnt missed a beat since.

Starlet GT 1.3 forged engine, tdo4 turbo @ 1.25bar = 252bhp = SOLD :(

EDIT: Charade GTxx 993cc three cylinder turbo, 173bhp @ 1.4bar (should hit 200bhp with a larger throttle body, removing stupid high lift cams and a bit more boost)

Starting problems would indicate possibly the crank/cam sensor

ok guys update, took it to the garage, they said 2 coil pack were gone so i had them changed £180, took it home and let it cool down as i only get the problem when the engine is cold and still the same misfire and the revs drop right down to the point where it almost stalls, it does start much better now but it still has the misfire when i first start it and it stays like that untill it get to temp.

thanks david

something that bad i bet its a simple problem which would be solved by completely stripping all the engines bolted on external parts, pipes, hoses and rebuilding checking everything on re-assembly. Failing thet a gallon of petrol a sledgehammer and a zippo lighter would sort it right out.

ok got it sorted, 2 new coil packs and a new intercooler pipe seems to have done the trick.

fingers crossed and that should be the end of it all

u are better off changing all the coil packs when they start to go not just the odd one or two,i had a skyline in the other day which had 3 go at once, they are not worth p**sing around with as when one goes they all seem to follow.

ringo at triton said you only need to change the one's that are faulty, i think in the next few weeks i will end up changing the other two anyway to be on the safe side, but £170 for 2 is all i want to pay at the moment.
