Hi peeps

Seeing as this is my first turbo'd car, i have no clue on there faults.

After a few weeks of having my impreza, the turbo started to whine after boosting. This then dissapeard for a while, and today coming back from work came back even louder. I presume its the turbo as its only after i boost the car, and then i drive like a grandad and it whines on for about 5 mins then is fine?

Boost wise tho, its still hitting the 0.9 bar that it should?

Would apreciate any help on this, as i dont want to blow it and have a huge bill!!

thanks
seb

I dont think its your turbo buddy, it would whine whilst boosting up and not afterwards. Is it whineing on negative boost and the best thing to do is Take it to triton and have them look at it.

thanks mate,

had a rolling road done at Tritons last month bud, all he said was my wastegates were possibly getting stuck closed as at the time i was loosing boost, e.g 0.5 bar one minute, but 0.9 the next...this seems to have sorted itself, Mind you....i dont push the car half as much as i used to.
Apart from this everything was running spot on.

Whining mate, erm.....after i boost, its constantly whining, but louder when you drive ( oviously)

I forgot to add....it does seem to drink water like its going outa fashion.

Ok if your wastegate is sticking this could be what is responsable for the whineing and with regards to your water issue check the radiator nearside for leaks in the rubber surround. The rads on early scoobs are renowned for leaks.

ahh nice one. So is it ok for me to still drive it?

Will have to source some new gates then i finks.

Have checked rad n pipes mate, the only place i can see it coming from is the overflow pipe thats connected to the top of the bottle neck. For some reason it emptys every time i Drive the car on half/full boost.

Think i might just get a new rad to while im shoppin,

thanks for your help ! :)

Np mate and do you have a water temp gauge in your car and only drive it if the engine temp is ok. Check under the filler bottle also as they also spring a leak from time to time.
