hi guys

i blanked off my dv today mainly to try and resolve a few problems, firstly i thought that the blitz dv i had was leaking a bit of pressure as this morning it started boosting higher than normal from 0.9 -1.1bar, i should add yesterday i fitted a hks mushroom filter, after driving for a bit it seemed to settle back down but i noticed that the flutter noise i was getting as the turbo went in to boost
(tch tch tch tch) was now staying there the whole time the turbo was boosting.

could this be my actuator up the creek or could it be something els.

Thanks David

sounds like the turbo could be up the creek, even if the actuator was fubard it would still only make a smooth spooling noise

Starlet GT 1.3 forged engine, tdo4 turbo @ 1.25bar = 252bhp = SOLD :(

EDIT: Charade GTxx 993cc three cylinder turbo, 173bhp @ 1.4bar (should hit 200bhp with a larger throttle body, removing stupid high lift cams and a bit more boost)

it sounds to me like the wastegate opening and closing quickly. causing it to make the tch tch tch tch noise.

If you are running with no dump valve then the noise you are hearing is due to the turbo stalling, air is pushing back through the turbine blades when the throttle is shut...otherwise known as(even tho its not) wastegate chatter.

its not chatter as it is only doing it when its boosting.

Also it was doing it when i had the dump valve on it.

i dont think its the turbo on its way out, i think its either the boost controller or the actuator messing around causing the wastegate to tap qiuckly.

have a look at the link below

Scoobynet Thread
