Hi guys, i changed the plugs on sunday, there is a big difference it doesnt judder like it did before, but there are still a few problems. i have listed them below.

1. on tick over it miss-fires slightly
2. when i pull away its a bit lumpy and drops off a little
3. when i start the car it can be a bit difficult ( take 4-5 sec)
4. when changing gear it sometimes holds the revs quite high
5. there does seem to be a lack off power

Thanks David

Did you inspect the coilpacks?

Possibly MAF trouble.

The coil packs looked ok, on the brass conducters the were a few black marks but the black rubber looked ok.

the maf sensor looks to be ok aswell, when i unplug it the engine stalls so its doing something.

it only started doing this after i jetwashed the engine off. everything is dry now.

Thanks David

Does it have trouble starting from cold?
Or does it have trouble starting all the time?

i havnt paid much notice to it so to be honest i am not quite sure.

i must add its not all the time its only maybe 1 out of 10 time its a bit of a pain, it will start but not as quick as normal, maybe 2-3 time longer

Thanks david

i would check the coilpacks again as they may look alright but any crack even a minute one will cause a problem.

i agree, you need to carefully remove the rubber bit to check them properly as you didnt mention doing that when you checked them ;)

worth changing the fuel pump too ;)
[GK-customfield]Lewis[customfield-GK]
Starlet GT 1.3 forged engine, tdo4 turbo @ 1.25bar = 252bhp = SOLD :(

EDIT: Charade GTxx 993cc three cylinder turbo, 173bhp @ 1.4bar (should hit 200bhp with a larger throttle body, removing stupid high lift cams and a bit more boost)

if it is the coil pack would that keep the revs up during gear change

Thanks David

As Lj said it could be a MAF problem even though you've done the unplugging test which shows it's working it could still be failing and need replacing and it can show up on the 'Select Monitor' (subaru diagnostic tool) as a fault.

Carb cleaner sprayed on to it may help as a temp solution but DON'T the sensor with your fingers, etc.
