Oh dear. :(

do you ever get the feeling you are asking a bit too much from your engine??

probably ?!

the trouble seamed to be that for some random reason the thermostat got stuck shut ! the temps sky rocketed but when i stop the rad was stone cold. and still had a large amount of water still in it.

i had only just got the car back together after changing my turbo gasket and manifold again, and its been running for only 2 days.

i wasnt even driving the car above 3k for the entire journy when i left bournemouth last night

yeah, thats what having a stuck shut thermostat will do, as it blocks the water flow into the rad until operating temp. sounds like you've cooked it mate :(

Starlet GT 1.3 forged engine, tdo4 turbo @ 1.25bar = 252bhp = SOLD :(

EDIT: Charade GTxx 993cc three cylinder turbo, 173bhp @ 1.4bar (should hit 200bhp with a larger throttle body, removing stupid high lift cams and a bit more boost)

Would be handy if you could pop in even just to collect your clothing to save me posting it out. :)

i may look at the main tuners gaskets even tho they are double or triple the money, the likes of hks or trust and may be a bit thicker too

yeah good point as i guess if the head is warped you may need a fair old skim so the gasket would make up for it :)

There's no replacement for displacement !

I had a 1.8mm Trust HG on mine with only 300BHP and it went. If you're going to get a decent HG then I would also get ARP head bolts and re-torque them after a few hundred miles to prevent it happening again.

Bad luck Dude - been there myself (and gave up)...

In all fairness Steve, I think my HG failure was due to me not replacing the radiator with a more suitable high performance one :(

Have a word with the big power boys on SXOC and see what they're running. Bren or Jez Horsham, or Gary@APT ?
