Looks like another tidy example mate but its a rev 2 unfortunately :( I'm only really after a rev3+ as they have a much better engine and they all have LSDs.

I would also like one with ABS as i'm planning on fitting an aftermarket traction control system at some point and it needs the ABS sensors.

Cheers anyway

Oh what do you think do these btw?

thinking of doing a round trip to have a look at them both.

Yeah dont get a rev 2 John, AFM is crap compared to the MAP setup on the 3. PLus rev3 prices are good.

yeah IIRC that blue was only available on the later UK models and they are pretty rare. i've only ever seen two others. Red is very common and they go pink you not looked after properly but they do polish up nice. :)

Oh right I didn't know the rev 3s were MAP based. I know they moved to a different, twin entry, turbo with the third gen einges.

Just read the wikipedia on the 3S-GTE and that says they didn't fit that engine to the MR2 until 1995 so maybe some rev3s have got the old engine.

Presumably if its a third gen engine i'll see something sticking out of the intake manifold and two pipes going to the turbo inlet. Don't suppose you know any better ways of identifying one do you? I don't really want to drive all that way just to find its got the wrong engine

Cheers

All rev3s John are CT20b turbos which hold full boost longer and run with the MAP setup. The rev3 3SGTE came in the MR2 in 1994 with the L reg cars. You can spot the AFM from a mile off, its a big black plug that goes into the airbox. Plus the intake manifold says
'Twin-entry turbo, ceramics power'
whereas the rev 3 doesnt say ceramics power.

The other main things to spot are the rear lights and the one piece spoiler as the rev1+2 had a 3 piece. Natually this can be changed but its not often.

Cheers Martin  yeah i knew the main differences between the revisions its just that wikipedia wrongly stated that the third generation 3S-GTE was not put into the MR2 until 95 which confused me as rev3 SW20's started in 1993. But, yeah, good point, I forgot it actually said 'twin' on the top
