I made my own grounding kit up, it actually made quite a difference, but the original grounds were pretty crap.

Yeah i was going to get a kit. But was advised to make my own. Just buy some wire and do it your self. I need to sort mine cause all i have to do is turn the rear window heater on and the lights dim and the engine vibrates differently.

Starlet GT 1.3 forged engine, tdo4 turbo @ 1.25bar = 252bhp = SOLD :(

EDIT: Charade GTxx 993cc three cylinder turbo, 173bhp @ 1.4bar (should hit 200bhp with a larger throttle body, removing stupid high lift cams and a bit more boost)

Nothing wrong with earthing kits but what is the problem is the spiel that they come with.
The early imprezas suffer from quite poor electrical wiring quality (not the putting together but the actual quality of wiring)

I doubt a grounding kit will sort that mate its more likely the load on the alternator...

As Lewis says a good ground to the ENGINE is not a bad thing but cables earthed to all ancillaries in the engine bay is a waste of time. The general census is grounding kits do feckall..

Actually Jay, thats exactly what mine was doing. The new ground wires fixed it. It was so bad it was effecting my fan controller, when you wound the windows the temp reading jumped up and the fans cut in

Once the grounds were all sorted, my temps held rock solid and the car starts a lot easier now. :D

i have a decent crimping tool for large terminals if anyone fancies making up some leads.

You want nice chunky cables, decent connections and a nic bit of bodywork with the paint cleaned off. A couple from the body to the engine won't hurt either.

i purchased my ground kit from scoobyparts.com it was 22.95 came with distribution block, battery terminal and 7 heavy duty leads of various lengths with crimped ends. Looking at simlar sized cable and ends to crimp on and then something to make distribution block out of it was a bargain at 22.95 and all the leads were a good length to the points i grounded to. the main thing is that there is a noticable difference in the car, smoother idle, brighter lights dash/outside and generally seems smoother on the throttle. worthwhile investment ;)
