Just been browsing jap cars on dealers websites and cant beleive some of the prices they have pitched their cars at.. :o how do these companys survive? how do they sell any cars?

Most cars are anything from 1.5k to over 2k over priced....just seen a V2 sti scooby with 80k on the clock for 5.5k thats low mileage V4 money.... Its no surprise John (D'n'A) is doing pretty well with his import business he pi$$es over most of these companys with price and quality....

Keep up the good work John boy.. ;)

I can't talk about this sort of thing otherwise I would end up slagging off every import car sales garage in the country.

There all over priced and not just by a few quid either.

The only way I'll ever buy a car from one of these places is if they promised the earth and it was actually a good deal.

Here is a prime example.

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/413862.htm

Seriously the dealer must have his head firmly up his arse.

Its the most expensive MK2 on pistonheads, one of the least desirable specs, non standard colour, shocking M3 mirrors, horrible wheels etc etc etc...

And he wants £4K!!!

Think its just an example of a clueless dealer jumping on the ever expanding MK2 market. I don't understand how dealers expect to make money when they import cars with "mods" that are going to seriously decrease their potential customer base for the particular car.

He'll probably not sell it and end up breaking it for parts

There must still be people out there that are dumb enough to walk into a garage and buy what ever the sales man says is good and assume the price is correct. :dunno:

It amazes me at the amount of people that ring up any old MOT centre and say "just do anything that needs doing" completely oblivious to that fact they they've just proverbially bent over the counter and lowered their trousers  Luckily the majority of garages are relatively honest.

I looked at a WRX at the Clock Garge a while ago, it was priced at £4250 (roughly), I was tempted until he offered me £4000 for mine and told me they would put it up for £6500.... so I guess they paid about £2500 for the WRX!!

Although I would buy from a reputable dealer, I would use the company I bought my BMW off over and over again, I even had a courtesy call 3 months after I bought him to see if I was happy with my purchase.

Of course there is a mark up, they have margins and overheads to cover etc...
But there is always some tonk who will pay the asking price without even thinking about the haggle - which imo is the best part of car shopping.
I admit to playing the game on occasion, just to see how much i can get 'Arfur Daley' to come down by, and its often quite a lot if they think they will get a sale at the end of it ;)
Booking a test drive in summat nice just for the hell of it is another of my favourite hobbys, their car, their fuel, my pleasure :D

Well as said you will pay more because of overheads but there are overheads and taking the p@ss.

Our overheads are cam belts, oil changes, fuel picking up and registering cars, and to get our cars through the MOT and SVA.

BUT we do not have to pay for a site; stock and so on so other have to pay this on top.

And as said a lot of people will just walk in and get a car because they cant wait, they see it, they want it.

So please see me if your the above

Me and Mr DNA went to 2 jap car auctions in Southampton a couple of months back to sample their wares... :o ... If you see what some traders are buying these
cars for and see the mark up its almost criminal..

some of these impot companies are selling cars at what they "should " be worth not the current market value!!!

gordan brown and his stealth taxes and fuel taxes will be the end to this country!!
