Hi mate the sti,s came with forged pistons unlike the wrx so you can take the standard engine to 350bhp reliably. They can take 400 if there well maintained and have appropriate mods i hope thats helped. |

Unfortunately the early STis didn't have uprated internals as they are modified wrxs the first real sti is a version 3. They are still good for 350bhp though with uprated turbo, fuelling etc |

Another thing to consider when running high bhp is engine condtion...ok they will handle the power but if the mileage is up or the engine hasnt had regular services it wont last very long...hence why people have forged engines built. |

I've had my car for nearly 2 years and its on the original engine which has done 174500 miles... been up at around the 300 mark for quite some time and apart from the running fault its been fine, as long as they are maintained well and the fuelling is nice and rich to keep the cylinders cool, there is no reason why a high mileage engine wont last

But to run 350-400bhp Lewis you obviously need to run more than 1.1bar of boost...subjecting a worn tired or abused engine to high boost pressures will only result in one thing. |
