Was just thinking about what car to get next. I would love a skyline but dont think i'd like the running costs. Then theres the 200sx which would be nice. I still have fun in my vti, but recently i've been looking at integra type r's mainly the dc2. There's one in ferndown up for under 6000 with 38,000k on the clock. Looks good and is standard looking. I trust honda engines to get trashed and still go on. Does any one know of things i should look out for when buying one. Also noticed that it had 4 stud wheels and some others have 5. Or is that a brake conversion. Any help would be good. ;)

4 stud pre 97 5 stud and 16" rims different brakes after 97.

Nothing sticks out to me as a common fault, but you got a Civic VTI so it won’t be a lot different fault wise.

Id get a UK one if it where me, cheaper to insure and better looking IMO.

Let Brad or one of the others fill you in on the finer details.

If its 4 stud then it must be an early JDM, so will have the smaller brakes, bigger stearing wheel, different gear ratio's. The facelift ones (98 onwards) had bigger brakes, Momo wheel, HID's etc

Things you need to look out for when buying, gear syncros, rust on rear arches, and dodgy noises from the LSD when turning, Stress cracks rounf the rear window/ A pillar and make sure it VTEC's once warmed up :)

Like Neo says a UK one will be cheaper to insure I would expect and you will have service history etc...

Do It Mate You Wont Be Dissapointed. Alot Faster Than You Think. I Raced A Focus St And Beat That And Thats A 2.5 Turbo :P Jst Remember You Gotta Drive it On V-Power All The Time Tho So Can Be Quite Costly Spesh When You Boot It All The Time. Never Had A Better Car That Handles Tho The Turn In Is Amazing! I'd Look For A UK Black One if I Was You. Worth Waiting For As They Look Sweet. Just Try And Get A 1997 Onwards One As You Get A Higher Spec Teg. Hope This Helped A Bit :D

Cool thanks for all the advice its really helpfull. Think i'll have to look for 97 onwards from uk then. Dont think the petrol will bother me cause i only use v power and my car does about 25 to the gallon when i boot it. I went and looked at the teg today and its already gone. It was mint though, i looked at the engine and it was rediculous. It was so clean and the interior and seats looked like know one had sat in it. I did feel my wallet trying to jump out of my pocket. My girlfriend was getting pissed off at how excited cars make me. Glad it was sold though, cause now i can think about getting a better one. :D

RingwoodITRDC2. Think i saw you last sunday in ringwood. You were behind me. then on the way out of Ringwood on to the dual carriage way you flew past. I was drivin infront of my girlfriend nice and slow cause she just got a new car.

On the way out of ringwood i wanted to give it some but wanted to make sure the girlfriend was safe. She spoilt my fun. Still need to get some photos up, but im abit lame with p.c's. :drive:

Alright dude. Im just thinking of selling at the mo. With all the money i've spent on it i would say around 4000 would be nice. She should never really need anything replaced on her. I'll have to think some more about what to do. Nice to hear about your jap adventure. Congratulations. I wish i was there surrounded by all the jap cars. Dont think i would ever leave. I'll talk to you when you get back :D

15" 4 stud = 96 spec JDM but they do come with a momo steering wheel.

98 spec = bigger brakes, HID's, 16" 5 stud (more grip, more expensive tyres) etc..

UK spec = seen some without a momo wheel, not sure as I didn't own one. Generally heavier, less power. Usual Jap model being more refined.

Looks is opinion, I prefer JDM y0! Insurance was only £557 for me 23 3 yrs NCD on JDM so...

Expect to pay 5-6k for a good 96 spec, 98 spec can be anywhere from 6-8k really depending on mileage.

As for problems, synchro wear, make sure you gear changes are nice apart from 1st gear which is usually stiffer as there's no synchro.

Make sure vtec is nice n strong.

Rust in rear arches (especially uk spec ;) )

Pretty bulletproof to be honest. Rev it as hard as you like.

I find it VERY hard to believe they have no syncro in first gear.

Ok, 1st does have a synchro - apologies for causing confusion

Something I read on DC2 forum but they were wrong ;)

Cheers again for the extra info. I'll have to find one to test drive. And yes JDM will probably be the way forward. I'll be keeping my eyes open for one. :)

I think its reverse that doesn't have a syncro ;)
