Could anyone give me a rough idea of what the servicing costs would be like on a P1? I've been looking at a few lately and noticed a lot of them seam to have had their engine rebuilt at about 60,000 miles.

The only service schedule I could find was for a standard Impreza. This didn’t look too bad but I’m guessing a P1 is going to need a little more tlc.

Thanks

the P1 is based on the STI 6 TYPE R the reason for engine rebuilds is that STI remapped the ecu for UK fuel (as asked for by Prodrive) unfortunately it wasn't as good as it should have been (this can be sorted out by an Ecutek remap £650 unfortuantely)

servicing costs should be the same as for a standard impreza but if in doubt ask Triton in the vendor section.

As much as a nice car the P1 is its basically a watered down version of the Jap version Type R.
Ive also read that they a prone to gearbox failure but that could just be down to it being a UK gearbox....not the strongest.

Its a job to find out exactly what the differences are between a P1 and Type R. According to this artical (link), the changes are quite superficial.

Maybe I will get a Type R and save myself a couple of grand. I just hope the insurance won't be too bad with it being an import.

Cheers guys

P1 had ABS but no DCCD (driver controlled central differential).

Type r did sometimes come with abs but i think it was an option.

Yeah, just read the Wikipedia article on the STI and it seams as though Prodive dropped DCCD to "allow for" ABS

Not sure why, personally i'd take DCCD any day.
