Took my vti for a mot today and it failed. Aaarg. I knew it would. Had to have the rear drop links replaced and the cat replaced. The cat was replaced last year and my car has already burnt it out, probably cause its running really rich. At least the cat didn't cost me 800 squid from honda. I hate mot's. oh well.

Hmm seams stange.. A CAT should last a lot longer than a year. Is the lambda sensor definitely ok? That can cause it to run rich and fail the emmisions. Just a thought

As John says they should last for some time, have you got the emissions print out? Most of the cats I have failed only do because the core has either a hole in it or has broken up completely and blown out of the exhaust

The print out will give a good indication as to what is wrong with the car

Yeah sensor is fine. It was tested. My car is chipped and has a fuel pressure regulator a big belly induction kit, d.c sports manifold (4 into 1) and bitz nur spec 2 muffler, which could have some thing to do with it. It does about 25 to the gallon around town. So guess the cat just couldn't handle it.

The emissions test said it failed on co (0.3) on both the idles. My last cat burnt out completly too. There was nothing letft inside it. This time there was some of it left. The cat was cheap though. It only cost 70. Honda wanted 800.
