yesterday was driveing about and hit boost but as soon as the needle staarted to rise past 0 on the standard boost gage it felt as if feul cut was kicking in but only for a fraction of a second and it does that a few times in a row and then stops when im at full boost. feels like im either tapping the throttle or clutch and makeing the car judder. normally when i hit feul cut its in 4th and 5th gear at high revs and it cuts the feul for about a second the car is a 1993 toyota starlet gt turbo with a 2" straight stainless exhaust from turbo back and a hks induction kit, those are the only mods i know of engine wise |

this happens in all gears possibly not 1st but i cant be sure as i gotta take it easy or i just spin in first and as for the revs it varies any thing from 2800 - 6000 and only while im in boost i dont think it does still have the limit but as ive had 125 mph in 4th gear (speedos siill in kph but i had another car matching speed )but as soon as i go to 5th i hit what i though was boost cut and that was on a private air feild. |

if it happens in all gears i wouldnt of thought it would be a fuel cut though. what mods have you got and what management, has it been tuned, or has anything be changed about the cars recently ie. new mod or remap which may cause a problem. |

It could the ECU is detecting DET and is backing off the boost. |

thats highly unlikely if its happening in all gears monka, he certainly wouldnt be hitting speed cut in 2nd and 3rd gear. |

jamie where you from mate? there are starlet owners all over the place who would go out with you and probaly be able to tell you whether its speed cut or fuel. although just re read your post and sounds like fuel, speed cut is more of a slow feeling kind of thing in gt's. not a short sharp jerk. what mods do you have, |

wen my mate had his starlet the fuel cut felt like the engine was about to fall out lol usually happened in 4th gear and up but wen he fitted his fmic it started at 3rd gear, the car proper hesitated |

im from cornwall im on uk starlet club but pcs a bit dead so just came here and the only mods i know of are the induction kit and exhaust i mention in the first post and as for the 125mph and as soon as i went to 5th it wouldnt go any faster and would keep doing the same thing i was doing just over that and then it lost all power for about a second and then returned and kept doing that at the same speed i think u might be on to summin there ady reminds me a little of when my dizzy cap got wet in my old landy used to get a similar sort of thing hopefuly its just that |

sounds to me like the recent shitty weather has gotten to the engine. pull your leads out and check if they are damp/dirty/rusty. |

My induction kit on my MR2 was sucking in water draining off the roof running down the drainage channel, I made a little cover for the filter from clear plastic and it stopped, was doing exactly what your feeling. It would do it when raining or if there was water on the roof or bonnet. I also zip tied the ignition leads away from anything metal on there path to the plugs, at 17 years old they may be a little brittle hehe. |

yeah sounds like ignition breakdown or fuel cut, you have all the mods needed to make the little starbo creep up to fuel cut with ease. |
