its been like it since i bought it and told by my mate who i bought it off its powersteering fluid as the pump leeks slightly, but basicaly if the cars left for a few days or if i give it a gd thrashing i get a thin cloud of white smoke frm the bonnet vents when i park up which seems to come from around the turbo and it smells like oil.... what do you guys reckon? does powersteering fluid smell like oil? The options are engine oil, coolant and possibly power steering fluid, but less likely If its dripping onto the exhaust on the turbo side it should be quite easy to spot Coolant will also steam if settles around the engine and vent up past the scoop or side vents Keep a check on all the levels and have a good look around the engine some staining may be present so you can narrow it down

try checking the rocker cover gaskets as mine used to drip slightly onto the exhaust(drivers side) and every time u pulled up u would get white smoke from the vent,i have replaced a few scooby ones.nice cheap fix if it is that. |

O/s (Driver) rocker cover gasket is favourite, heat from the uppipe 'cooks' the rubber gasket making it hard and brittle, and then leaking ![]() Power steering pumps do leak, and eventually make s its way to the manifold..... Coolant is unlikely, the radiators are prone to breaking and the coolant tank is also prone to splitting, but these would be noticable as soon as the car is warm. Mike |
