Just to confirm that they are indeed bloody lethal (IMHO) in the wet.

We had a 15mph 4 wheel drift round a roundabout yesterday in the rain... I couldn't even tell that the tyres had lost grip, except for the fact that we we're going sideways :o
At least the fronts lost grip too, otherwise we could have ended up backwards :D

Looks like I'm going to have to find some sensible rubber for winter after all...

nangers are quality tyres lol

Starlet GT 1.3 forged engine, tdo4 turbo @ 1.25bar = 252bhp = SOLD :(

EDIT: Charade GTxx 993cc three cylinder turbo, 173bhp @ 1.4bar (should hit 200bhp with a larger throttle body, removing stupid high lift cams and a bit more boost)

nankangs are pants ,went to to my customers car a couple of days ago to do a service and found 3 42 splits in sidewalls and these were less than 6 months old!
poor quality budget tyre ,ok aon a small car but no good on anything powerful as no grip and will wear rapidly

I don't want to buy brand new 17" tyres when I want 16" wheels on the MR2.

When I find the wheels I want I will get Falken 452s ;)

Definitely looks like you had a bad batch there Matt.
Mine are fine (at the moment).

It's not just 'budget' tyres that have problems either - I know of several people on SXOC that have had Goodyear F1's explode at speed.

nank's are ok isnt in the dry but bring on the rain an sideways you go, cant go wrong with falken fk452's they seam great in the wet and fantasic in the dry, cant fault them for the money and id put them up there with the best but for a lot less

WOW!!! And I just thought that the MR2 was bloody unpredictable in the wet. I have 3 of these nankang tires on my MR and I found myself going heavily sideways with limited warning, first time at 70 I caught the slide, but the second time I wasnt so fortunate and span it on the on ramp to the dorset way from the fleetsbridge roundabout (You can still see my skidmarks on the grass and in my boxers!!:)). They came on the car so at least I didnt buy them, but I guess its time to shell out more money :(.

Ay for sure, the MR is picky about tyres, can recommend Falken 452's :D
Definately DONT mix n match if you can help it! Try and keep all four corners the same or at lease axle pairs B)

Mine had Nankang's on the back when I bought it.. after owning it for three days, it rained and I spun it 180. Luckily nothing was coming the other way

I went for a pair of Nexxen's next as I was short on money and they were even worse!

Not only were they hopeless in the rain, the tyre walls were to too soft making the arse end wobbled all over the place.

I'm gonna go for Toyo Proxes T1-R's next time.

Top choice mate. Excellent tyre for the price. Good in wet and dry.

Ive been eyeing up some nice falkens, Ive got used to these nankangs now, found myself going sideways but I got the feel for them goingl. Im gonna use and abuse these while they arent costing me anything once there buggered(2-3 weeks :D) Im going to invest in the falkens for it.

I span it on the first day I drove it :D. My saying always has been, you havent owned a car till you have spun it

Mine are 205's, makes things VERY interesting in the wet even with only the standard 220 brake! Just ask Niallis! hehe
