http://www.thor-racing.co.uk/Knock_Link_Kit-LNK_KL_KIT.asp Scooby's are prone to engine failure if not looked after correctly, mostly due to running mods without correct ecu mapping, but also due to crappy fuel we use over here, hence why you must use Super atleast, but V Power if you can! Its usually piston no. 3 thats fails as its the one furthest away, fuel and oil. The knock link is a sensor that detects knocking or detonation; both of which are bad. Some say they are sh1te, but i have one and always will do. |

You forget to mention it's also the 1 next to the turbo so gets hotter then the rest.

I had a detalarm in my old classic its the same thing as a knocklink but with remote LED's that can be mounted anywhere in the dash....as Paul says if your keeping with in its limits theres no need for one...so stop scaring him Kev!!.... But if you plan to run some serious boost then for about £60 its cheap piece of mind. |

decat you will have to change back every MOT (buy a sports cat would be better). Don't bother with an IK just a better panel filter. Decent chips aren't avaliable for the 97 model (they may be soon though). |

Bigger turbo unless it has the TD05,full decat, uprated fuel pump and maybe bigger injectors.....the car will have 380cc injectors that are supposed to max out around the high 290'sbhp but i managed 313bhp from 380cc's |

You obviously don't know where the cat is!!!!! A good panel will see pretty good results with the mods you have. but if you do decide to get an induction kit, don't get a blitz SUS!!!! |

The cat is located in the downpipe and is a pig to change back. The IK has to be properly sheilded as it's quite near the turbo so at standstill it will soak up the heat (saying this though i do have an IK as it was fitted to the car when i bought it) |

Jay, I found that info. earlier but didn't post it as i thought it was rubbish!!! If it is true you learn something everyday Cat is in the downpipe, so yes, a pain to change quickly! shame as it gives good gains! |

Did you get that from Andy Forrests' website? I had a look and it said that and then checked and it just didn't look right. 18s will ruin the car imo go for a nice set of 17s (it's what Prodrive recommend for the classic impreza) |

What kits you looking at? 18"s look way better, but the ride can be a little harsh depending on sus setup! but you'll always wish you had gone for the 18"s if you get 17"s |

The Vf22 is similar to the TD05 but a roller bearing turbo they used to be the turbo of choice for big power they were also fitted to the 22B |

According to the info on the jdm 97 wrx thats what it came with, the Uk and Euro spec cars of the same year came with the TD04...BUT...remember in development terms its still an 11 year old turbo. Subaru have gone from the VF22 which was the first IHI VF series turbo they used on the impreza to the new twin scroll design.. The VF series are not as robust as the TD series but the VF22 will give you a good power gain even if a bit laggy... |
